Hi

My husband is going to be applying for his spouse visa in the next couple of weeks. When he first comes over we will be staying with my mum and sister in a four bedroom house. We have a letter from my mum, land registry docs, mortgage statement, council tax bill and utility bill. Just wondering if anyone knows if a property inspection report is needed as we didn't have it done for his visit visa which was granted. Thanks

On the list of requirements for accommodation it mentions a property inspection report as one of the documents. Not sure if it is needed if we will be living with my mum and sister.

Oh sorry yes it's for a uk spouse visa.

and who is going to do the inspection report, I thought that is needed when you live in Council accommodation or in accommodation where there are loads of people living, if with family then should be okay, just prove that there is room to live there.

I believe the local council can do it or can be done independently by a surveyor. Just wanted to see if it was needed before we paid for it, but sounds like it's probably not needed.

It's mentioned on the supporting documents under accommodation details https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/270197/sup-docs-settlement.pdf

As it clearly states, many of the documents in that guidance are suggestions, not mandatory; certainly as far as evidence of accommodation is concerned: "You may wish to submit any of the following documents to provide us with evidence of your accommodation."

Most people simply opt for the last item on the list, i.e. "accommodation details with a supporting letter from the occupant/ landlord confirming that you are able to stay there."

So a simple letter from your parents in which they invite you to live with them and briefly describes the property and who else lives there to show that there will be at least one room for the sole use of you and your husband should suffice; as it has done for many before you.
