webfact
PM will not oppose UDD’s anti-graft centre but insists it is not legally recognizedBANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha said he would not oppose the plan of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship to set up its own anti-corruption centre insisting that the centre is not legally recognized.“Go ahead. But it will not be legally recognized. It will not have any impacts anyway so long as the media does not over-sensationalize it,” said the prime minister. However, he warned that the UDD’s proposed anti-corruption centre must not go against the referendum law otherwise all the people who are involved in the proposal will face arrests. He also questioned why the UDD had not thought about setting up the centre to investigate the massive corruption in the rice pledging scheme of the former Pheu Thai government. The prime minister appeared to be moody when reporters asked for his comment regarding the result of the Master Poll which shows that most of the people were satisfied with the performance of his government in the past two years.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/166226 -- Thai PBS 2016-06-

Thechook
Not legally recognised, just like the military junta outside Thailand except by a couple of dictatorships and a communist country. Must not go against the referendum law or members will be arrested. I guess that means if they identify or mention any junta members or supporters being corrupt they will be in a huge pile of poop. NongKhaiKid
Road maps, reconciliation, moving the country forward etc is all so much BS as his message is and always had been ' it's my way or the highway ' yet he continues to insult people's intelligence by expecting, indeed demanding, they believe everything he says. Just think, there are so many with his mentality here so even if what passes for a democratically elected govt is in place somebody can start the Coup Countdown Clock because it might not be too long before another Gen. Prayut emerges.
aussieinthailand
"Go ahead. But it will not be legally recognized. It will not have any impacts anyway so long as the media do not over sensationalize it." Isn't there a phone number set up for public to report corruption? So " Not legally recognized" what is that supposed to mean? "It will not have any impact" These statements sound very worrying by a government considering the level of corruption in the country they most certainly need all the help they can get... Unfortunately if corruption is found and exposed and they wrong people are found to be involved then many people will find themselves in court charged with deformation and computer crimes just like Andy Hall is currently. Why hasn't the so-called beloved PM stepped in and use his super powers to stop this disgusting behavior? If he did he would find a hell of a lot more support by many more people rather than the very few that are being protected. Isn't the brother of the factory owner some kind of minister or something? could that be why this has been let go ahead?

He continuously shouting to any one that will listen he is all about ending corruption and transparency, then let's start really close to home with the PM's finances and his family finances with total independent investigation, Ah But wait the champion of anti corruption and hero to the nation has told everyone he and his family are OFF LIMITS!!! What would the head line be if the UDD came out with numbers on uncle Too and or family, WOW Gaol for any and all involved in the investigation followed by their family's. What has he got to hide? If you haven't done anything wrong then no need to hide.

Baerboxer
Hopeless person...reconciliation will never be achieved if this guy remains in power. Do you think Thaksin would've been remotely interested in reconciliation and real democracy had he managed to ram his whitewash amnesty through? You can't have reconciliation if none of the elements are remotely interested in it. The UDD are a private group with appointed leaders. Nothing in the least to do with real democracy and simply a tool of a wannabee dictator whose nose has currently been shoved out the trough and who is trying to get in control again. There behavior suggests they are judging others by their own behavior.

Or do you really believe Thaksin's bull crap that he's never ever done anything wrong, never ever in his life, just like his sweet little sister? Wonder if the truth about the Four Seasons saga will ever come out? Doubt it as the only witness was murdered. Luckily solved by super sleuth Chalerm even before the body was found. Wow - you think Japan, US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, are all communist or dictatorships? And all members of the UN - incredible that only you noticed. Strangely enough, yes the UDD and it's appointed leaders, appointed by whom who knows, are actually not above the law. O K so they were above the law under PTP but times have changed. seajae
so the reds are going to look at their own corruption/graft and that of the ptp without any bias, I find that highly unlikely. This is simply a load of crap and the reds are simply going to try to point all the allegations at their opposite number, but I am sure all the brainwashed followers will believe whatever they are told. All sides need to be investigated but not by themselves, trouble is I doubt there are any independent people left in Thailand that could do it honestly without wanting large envelopes being handed over to ensure their findings

robblok
Let them set it up.. sure they will go after the people they don't like, the other side does the same thing. At least corruption is attacked I don't care who is corrupt they all should be taken down. But 100% sure that the reds will never investigate their own, though I seen democrats instigate investigations against other democrats. That is the difference.
