Hi Robblok,

It is the husk of the Rice grain.

....perhaps "Lam" is the name they call rice "bran" in Thailand?

If its the husk of the rice grain.. then lam the by product is indeed rice bran. Its used a lot for fishing.. but I would not eat it.

Interesting what you comment...i would have thought that rice bran would be a straight substitute for wheat bran?

...why would you not eat it?

Because its a waste product here, and not much care is taken its often has bugs. I fish a lot and have seen many kinds of qualities from the same vendor. There is just no quality control because its not meant for human consumption (here)
