The first thing they should do is to close Soi 6 for good. And destroy WS. Get rid of all the bar owners. Lets turn Pattaya into a fishing village again. Love and peace.

Dreadful idea! Anyway WS employs thousand of people and brings hard currency in floods. Fishing villages are joyless poverty stricken dumps . I bet you wouldn't want to grow up in ardous third world environment but you want it for others - very hypocritical. Edited by alofthailand

This killed me military and experts in the same line , to take over Pattaya, more like ruin it.

Do not under estimate the military...

IMHO I am convinced of the accusations that the farther of the current mayor is the head of an organised crime syndicate and hopefully the military will now be able to do something about the organised crime like the Jet Ski and Baht Bus mafia.

Baht Bus Mafia? Don't be silly! No such thing. It's one of the best transport services in the world - have you even to Pattaya?

My biggest concern is the dress code in the gogos will be changed.

I am a huge fan of them wearing high heels, ear rings and make up under the current administration.

I prey to the Dear Lord that this stays the same.

The army ordered a cover up last night.

Oh noooo.

Already? I have been dreading this moment.

The PM is a very serious man, with a strong desire to clean up a hell of a lot of thailands problems.

He is under a lot of stress.

The Thai people are hard to control.

He also wants Thailand to project good image.

Last year I stayed in Phangna. The army had pulled down kilometers of illegally built restaurants, bars, massage shops etc along the beach. Peoples businesses, they were illegally built, they had to go.

A couple of weeks back I was in Phuket. Surin beach used to have a lot of upmarket nice bars, restaurants on the beach front. They were on illegally built land, had to go. No "deals" done, just ordered to be torn down.no ifs or buts, just tear it down. It's the law.

Other places in Phuket, also, have already been or have to be torn down. Illegally built. Big bucks. Bad luck.

Other illegally built buildings are being pulled down all around Thailand. Illegally built, bad luck, tear em down.

I can't see the PM when he inspects Walking Street, being very impressed. With anything. The locals, the drunk farangs, the behaiviour.

The entire West side of Walking Street is illegally built over the beach. I can't see the PM doing those businesses along there any special favors.

The buildings along there are not exactly, eye pleasers.

it is common knowledge that they were ordered to be knocked down years ago.

At the end of his trip up walking street he will come to Bali Hai Pier and be face a tall unfinished building where construction has been stopped supposedly, some say, for being built illegally.

Almost like a monument.

I doubt if he will be impressed by that either.

Pattaya is what it is because of the people who have been in charge for a long time.

The city isnt perfect.

But the fact that you can go out and watch hundreds of beautiful, hot, happy girls dancing naked any night of the week with cheap cold beer is what makes truly Pattaya Heaven on Earth.

It is like a Victoria Secret Show on Steroids, hundred times bigger and without the lingerie. Every single night of the week.

There is nowhere else in the world that comes close.

Heaven won't be Heaven anymore without its Angels.

Please God, please.

Don't let last week be the end of the "Good old days" that everyone talks about.

Let the good times roll.

Please.

I have never been to a clothed gogobah.gif . Anything else would be uncivilized!biggrin.png

There is actually no such thing as a clothed gogo.

If they are clothed it is a Cayote, even though some claim to be a gogo.

It is just wrong.

You’re asking God the paradox of preserving the status quo of Pattaya? No hard feelings, but disingenuous words flying off the fingertips without befitting thought beforehand, perhaps.

The baht bus mafia prevents the introduction of decent public transportation in Pattaya like Bangkok. Pattaya is stuck in the 1960's because of a few old Thai guys who pay off the mob.

No problem with ten baht...

My issue is with the overcharging, racketeering, over loading, passengers hanging of the back of Baht busses, drivers affected by drink/drugs, and the unsafe busses, for which the current administration is unwilling to do anything about.

Bridge Clubs and other entertainment locations for the Pattaya elderly (are they allowed Bingo) will now need to have tight security to keep the combat troops out.

No doubt residents and tourists can expect to see many more soldiers on the beat wearing full battle gear, bulletproof jackets and carrying automatic weapons. Just as they have been seen to do in places like Soi Cowboy. That should add a bit of excitement to the raunchy tourist character of Pattaya.

The last outposts of democracy in Thailand are surely being extinguished.

I have never seen armed military in Soi Cowboy any time I have been there?

I live nearby and have, in fact, not seen any armed military on Asoke or the Sukhumvit corridor.

Old guys drinking beer and having a second childhood before death with the cash they worked hard for in 50 years of a mind numbing job are not scum. They are old men having a bit of fun after a life of sweat and sorrow. Scum is the guys who own the fishing boats running slave labor to catch fish.

This is the end. RIP Pattaya.

Pattaya died 3 years ago when the filthy tour buses arrived....

No, the deathblow was earlier, Central and the inevitable attack of the BKK hordes. Gentrification began.

555 lets hope Pattaya is like a clever feline with 9 lives....

Rarity creates added value , so Pattaya does create more added value than a fisherman village. Such villages are plenty so you dont need to destroy someone's else paradise if fishing or staring at the sea is your thing.

I guess you problem is lack of altruism. People can be happy in different ways and every source of happyness has its drawbacks.

I am not drinking alcool but i can understand and tolerate that some people need to get drunk to be happy. We are different.

That beeing said Pattaya is like a tumor now and its neither good for night lightlife or tourism since its a bad mix of all this. Las Vegas shoudl remain las Vegas. For a high end tourism destination , there is no potential , the beach is common and

destroyed by erosion , the city has nothing typical. This city is just a tumor in terminal phase.

Here's my predicition. The army wil crack down and hurt the beerbar/gogo bar business. Pattaya will be in a slump except for hordes of Chinese filling empty hotels at discount prices and dining at 7-11. Thus only one way to save Pattaya. Koh Larn will get a Casino. Give it 5 years.

Great idea except the Army owns many of the go go bars.

You think baht busses are bad? Come to Phuket and see the transpo situation. Baht busses are reliable and cheap transportation. Clueless
