manutfarang Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Do anyone know if MRT intends to equip the blue line with more wagons and or trains? The capacity is already maxed out as it is, and I can imagine when the purple line starts to operate traffic will increase even further.
mtls2005 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I couldn't find anything about additional carriages, but the lead time is quite lengthy so maybe some news is out there from a few years ago? The current Blue Line has 18 or 19 3-car sets, while the new Purple Line has ordered 21 3 car sets.
Estrada Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The Blue Line trains will not even be ordered before the contract for operation is awarded to whoever they chose. Only when MRTA has awarded the contract to run the Blue Line Extension to a company, will the company in question (most likely BEM) purchase rolling stocks for the extension.Pink line, Yellow line, Orange line (east) and Blue line extension will all be up for bidding this month (June 2016) BEM, if awarded the contract will then order the trains. Delivery of the trains will therefore not happen until 2018 - 2019.
