Hello,

I am hoping someone can help with this issue. The petitioner lives in California and is trying to serve divorce papers to the respondent, who lives in Bangkok. The petitioner is filing w/out an attorney and is not sure what is required by Thailand in order to serve the documents. The respondent has a thai attorney and they are not sure what is required by the US. I contacted the US embassy and they directed me to the list of attorneys. The courts in the US have not been helpful either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If respondent is willing...they can accept service. Doesn't matter they live in Bangkok if they accept service of process. Otherwise Petitioner should make every effort to personally serve the papers (Server signs an affidavit that they have personally served them) ....and then if that is not possible you can serve by publication locally and in the area where you believe the respondent currently lives.
