Does anyone know approx how much a new set of tyres costs for my bike? I'm guessing Michelin imported and very expensive. Any cheaper but quality alternatives?

Running Roadrunners currently. Tyres look good, only 11000 km I assume came on the bike new. They seem to skid pretty easy if I brake hard

by the casting number on the side-wall.

2414 would denote 24th week in 2014.]

Michelins are Thai made and very reasonably priced.

Get some.

Might save your life.

i've been checking out tyres too.

You can get:

Michelin Pilot Street (Cross ply) about 3,500+ the set

or as mentioned above post the Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 (Radial) about 7,800

(not to be confused with the Brazil made Radialino which is cheaper and now obsolete)

So it depends on when you ride and how much you ride. if you wanted to go for the cheaper Pirelli or Mich, they should be fine for normal commuting.

For me i am tossing up between the Michelin Pilot Street Radial (PSR) and the Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 (DR2). i won't do a lot of miles, not intending to ride in the rain and not fast street speeds but want something that may make the difference in an emergency situation. The PSR is longer lasting (about 2 times to the DR2 - depending on how hard it is used), and is very good in all conditions, especially the wet. The DR2 is good in the wet but is great in the dry, and wears fast. On some of the Ninjette forums, the PSR is consider the best for commuting/weekend riding (handling but also influenced by better mileage cost), while the DR2 is good for commuting/weekend riding but also if interested in track days.

The shop in Pats i went to charge a few hundred baht extra above the prices given for fitting and balancing. They said the DR2 was the best, but the PSR better in the wet.
