Accident Teenager Killed in High-Speed Crash with Lorry

A 17-year-old boy has died after crashing his motorcycle into the rear of a lorry in the early hours of the morning of 12 July, leaving his devastated father in tears at the scene. The fatal accident occurred at around 14:00 on Phahonyothin Road inbound, near kilometre marker 37+636 opposite Bangkok University, in Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. Police investigator Pol. Lt. Anusorn Wiangsima from Khlong Luang Police Station arrived at the scene with traffic officers, forensic doctors from Thammasat University Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. The victim, identified as Mr Pongthep, aged 17 and a local resident of Khlong Luang, was found lying deceased in the middle of the road. Around 50 metres away, a grey Honda Giorno motorcycle, without a licence plate, was discovered wedged into the back of a stationary white Hino 10-wheeled lorry, registration from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The lorry driver, Mr Prawit, 43, was present and waiting for police. He stated that he had been travelling in the middle lane when a motorcycle overtook him. Moments later, he heard a loud bang and saw smoke rising from the rear of his vehicle. Believing he had a tyre blowout, he pulled over. He was en route from Wang Noi to Bang Phli in Samut Prakan. In a twist, several motorists who stopped to assist narrowly avoided serious injuries themselves. Four people were injured during the incident, including three men attempting to direct traffic away from the fallen rider, both of whom were hit by motorcycles. Among the injured was the rider of a Honda PCX and the rider of a black Honda Giorno. All injured parties were transported by rescue teams to Paolo Rangsit 2 and Seekan Hospitals. Poh Teck Tung rescue worker Sgt. Chatchai Jadrith, confirmed that the scene involved multiple collisions and a fatality. He noted the brave efforts of a taxi driver who had also stopped and attempted to help manage traffic before being struck himself. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. The lorry driver, Mr Prawit, was taken to Khlong Luang Police Station for further questioning. The father of the deceased arrived at the scene and broke down in anguish upon seeing his son’s body. The boy’s mother later said she had no idea where her son had gone that night and only learned of the accident from one of his friends. Picture courtesy of ที่นี่ พัทยา A swift and coordinated police operation has led to the arrest of four suspects, two Chinese nationals and two Thais, who kidnapped and robbed a fellow Chinese businessman in Pattaya. The authorities have confirmed that the group falsely claimed to be police officers in order to carry out the crime. The incident occurred at around 05:30 on 10 July, when 52-year-old Chinese national Mr. Lin Yifan was abducted outside a Chinese noodle shop off Pattaya North Road, Moo 6, Chonburi Province. The assailants forced him into a white BYD SUV, which at the time had no visible licence plates. While in the vehicle, the victim was reportedly threatened at gunpoint and had his hands bound behind his back. The attackers then robbed him of all his possessions, including his mobile phone and a large sum of cash. He was later dumped on the side of the railway road near Soi Chaiyapruek 2, approximately 9 kilometres from the scene of the abduction. After managing to contact someone for help, Mr. Lin discovered that over 150,000 baht had also been transferred from his Chinese bank account via a mobile application. In total, he was robbed of more than 230,000 baht in cash and assets. Following intensive investigations led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepchamnong, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jindakornsanong, Chonburi Provincial Police Commander, officers from multiple agencies including the Immigration Bureau, Tourist Police Bureau, and Pattaya City Police tracked the suspects using CCTV footage. The vehicle used in the crime, a white BYD registered in Bangkok (licence plate 5KYa-3463), was later located at a residence in Min Buri District, Bangkok. Four suspects were subsequently identified and arrested: 1. Mr. Longding Han, 37, Chinese national 2. Mr. Zhangchou Han, 63, Chinese national 3. Mr. Siriphong Chiebleam, 35, Thai national 4. Mr. Thitiphong Phongpiriyakul, 28, Thai national All four suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement, admitting to being the individuals captured on CCTV. According to their testimony, they were hired by another Chinese national known only as “Mr. Yong” to commit the robbery. Mr. Zhangchou Han allegedly drove the SUV to deliver Mr. Longding Han, who then picked up the two Thai suspects dressed in black. After the robbery, they regrouped and returned to Bangkok, splitting the stolen cash and discarding the victim’s phone in a body of water. Police have emphasised that the suspects are not part of any official law enforcement unit nor are they involved in a debt collection case. This was a premeditated criminal act, with the gang targeting Mr. Lin under the assumption he was wealthy due to his business status. The suspects are currently facing charges of joint armed robbery and authorities are working to recover the remaining stolen property. Investigations are ongoing to locate and apprehend Mr. Yong, the alleged mastermind behind the attack. Law enforcement officials have reiterated that all perpetrators will be brought to justice, regardless of nationality or influence.
