LONDON: -- A young British man has pleaded not guilty to attempting to assassinate US presidential hopefuly Donald Trump .

Michael Sandford, 20, allegedly tried to snatch the weapon during a rally at Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas on June 18.

He is said to have told police he travelled to the Nevada city to kill presumptive Republican nominee Trump, court documents show.

Should have gone for the insanity defense. I recall reading he has a history of such problems. Being white, young, and British, he has a leg up in the U.S. justice system but I don't think the not guilty plea will wash.

There was a GUN, but it was not a SMOKING gun, and it also wasn't in the accused possession. Maybe his lawyer can work with that. Best of luck.

It just takes one juror in a jury trial to hang a jury. An insanity defense may have worked to reduce his punishment, but I suppose there is a small chance of walking now.

Damn, give the man a medal and some instructions on how to do it right. He was just trying to do the world a favor.

must you show your stupidity and ignorance in public? don't you realize that when people read what you have to say they look at you as a certified nut? I do!
