PATTAYA: Around 1500 Pattaya motorbike taxi drivers have only sixty-days to apply for public transport licenses.

Since 2014 the district has been urging thousands of riders to apply for licences that, among other things, requires them to charge standard fees set by the Chonburi Province.

This has proved to be an impossible rule to enforce and largely ignored by the riders. However, authorities have been able to persuade nearly six-thousand riders to register and they have been issued with the official orange bibs.

But many more rogue drivers remain on the streets and they have now been given just two months to fall in line or face arrest.

Banglamung District Chief Chakorn Kanjawattana has said that no new licenses will be issued after October 1st and that to obtain permits riders must provide fingerprints, allow criminal background checks and be sponsored by either the head of a local taxi stand or two neighborhood drivers. The driver’s motorbike also will be inspected for safety and road-worthiness.

before issuing dead lines, you must have an enforcement plan

in the absence of which no project is likely to succeed.

suggest an easily identifiable arm badge.

unscrupulous operators may still find a way around it but chances of detection

will be improved.

Identity arm badge or card...

That should boost sales of full face motorbike helmetsgigglem.gif

Its a fantastic service as is the baht bus service which is possibly the most useful, cheapest transport system in the world. The motosai system already works well so it does not need to much adjustments - just gentle persuasion and a tad standardization.
