davidst01
Can you recommend any vegan restaurants in bangkok near the Asoke / nana area of suk road? thanks
ChidlomDweller
There are some Indian vegetarian ones at the start of Sukhumvit Soi 11, 11/1, and I believe also Soi 8. I have some Indian friends who are vegetarian and from talking to them, such restaurants would understand what you want. Not sure if they do outright vegan but at least they'll understand what that means. There's also many Lebanese ones more towards Ploenchit where you can get homous, baba ganoush, falafel, those grape leaf rolls, etc. Was a vegan a ling time ago and glad I dropped it. I eat dairy and seafood now and that's limiting enough. Edited July 20, 2016 by ChidlomDweller
ChidlomDweller
Another nice place a bit further out (Soi Langsuan, Chidlom BTS) is the macrobiotic restaurant on the street level of the Portico. They have set meals that are vegetarian. Not sure about vegan but it's very likely you'll find something in the menu. And then there's always Sunrise Taco or other Mexican places where you can get a vegetarian burito. Even there I'm not sure the beans wouldn't have been cooked in some broth, or zero butter has been used, and good luck explaining it to them. Theres also a great hole in the wall vegan place a stones throw from khaosan bus station....forgot the name but apart from 2 tables everyone sits on the floor. janejira
I would also recommend May Veggie Home. Also, food courts if you are looking for something fast and cheap. There is a vegetarian stall in the food court on the 5th floor of Terminal 21 (Pier 21); the basement of Emquartier (Quartier Food Hall)- they have good noodles; Central World in the food court inside the Gourmet Market; and MBK (I believe it is on the 7th floor, not the International food court). gdgbb
Fake shrimp, innit? It is worth checking. I am vegan, and have had places in Thailand serve me fish and chicken as they do not count it as meat! They don't give it away free so how does a restaurant serve you fish and chicken if you didn't order it?
thai3
because they are idiots of course, apparently chicken is not meat either, happened to me a few times

fishbrando
I'll also put in a vote for May Veggie Home which is pure vegan. Govinda is very good too - they are vegetarian (not vegan) but they do have vegan cheese for your pizza if you wish and many vegan dishes. There's a vegetarian restaurant in the food court in Terminal 21. They have some items with eggs but most are vegan. Near Nana there is Aryaa's and Dosa King, both vegetarian. kennypowers
Veganarie (behind em Quartier) and May Veggie Home in Asok are the main two, but do join the Vegan Thailand Facebook page to stay in touch with others and more information. https://www.facebook.com/groups/627077820743760/ Also see this link here for how to ask for vegan food and other vegan-related Thai phrases:
dontoearth
There is a Thai Vegetarian food stall on the 6th Floor of MBK in the Foodies Court. They serve Thai vegetarian which includes some foods I have never seen before anywhere else. The foods don't utilize dairy so they could be classified as Vegan. They do a fried chili paste soy bean with green beans. I never saw this before. They also have vegetarian meats Seitan and you can point out your food for over rice or noodle. It is so cheaper than you an imagine. I have spent about 65 baht most times I have tried it. Of course there is spicey and mild and a big bowl of greens for you to add as you like. dontoearth
There is a vegetarian set at the Indian Food stall same place! It does include yougurt so it is not Vegan. The Korean place does a vegetarian set steamed and you can request EGG or NO EGG. So that can be made vegan. FarangRimPing
My 3 favorite vegan places in BKK are Khun Churn, May Veggie Home, and the Loving Hut on Rama 3. Khun Churn is a bit fancy and more expensive I think. The Loving Hut on Rama 3 has the most extensive menu and it also has reasonable prices. Loving Hut 424 Rama 3 Soi 20 Bangkhlo Bangkok 10120 +66 2 291-5074 While not close to Asoke/Nana, it is easy to get to. Simply go onto Asoke, head south. Asoke will become Rama 3, and Loving Hut is several kms down on the left.
JB300
Big Indian place at the top of Soi 11 / Soi 11-1 (can go in from either Soi) has loads of vegan dishes all indicated with the Green "V" you'd normally associate with indicating Vegetarian food. Not a Vegan/Vegetarian myself but will eat there when I am in Bangkok because the food is great. Edited July 22, 2016 by JB300
JHolmesJr
Two other great vegan places Ive been to are Rasayana Retreat Ariya Cafe Both worth a visit. For indian vegan, the best place Ive found on sukhumvit is called Sri Ganesa…its about half a click inside soi 13 in a mall of sorts on the left. TallGuyJohninBKK
How about Broccoli Revolution on Suk Road at the corner of Soi 49, about halfway between Phom Phrong and Thong Lor BTS stations on the odd-sois side of the road? http://bk.asia-city.com/restaurants/bangkok-restaurant-reviews/broccoli-revolution Edited July 22, 2016 by TallGuyJohninBKK
easybullet3
(1) May Veggie Home. (directions already stated by other members). 100% vegan restaurant. Thai and international style food website: http://mayveggiehome.com (2) Rasayana RAW FOOD RESTAURANT. California style raw food its a completely raw food vegan restaurant. excellent for the more health conscious. (also has non-junk raw vegan desserts) Sukhumvit Soi 39 then go into Soi Prom Mitr. about 80 metres down you turn left down another soi (you can see the sign for rasayana). and then its about 120 metres down that road (right side). worth visiting. (last order at about 8pm, i think). its also a health spa and does Colonic Therapy. website: http://www.rasayanaretreat.com/raws/menu (3) Khun Churn (Central Embassy Department Store Branch). Thai Style veggie food, aimed at tourists. (you need to tell them NO EGG on some of their dishes). personally I prefer the smaller branch of Khun Churn because it has different items on the menu which I prefer. its in the Basement Foodcourt of Central Embassy Department Store... website: https://www.facebook.com/khunchurnEathai/photos (4) Govindas Italian Restaurant Despite the name, this is a 100% italian owned italian chef, italian restaurant. Soi 22.. (about 100 metres on the right side of the road there is a small plaza with a few restaurants). its 100% vegetarian and does not use egg. but many dishes have vegetarian non-rennet cheese, unfortunately they dont have vegan cheese). but there is PLENTY of dishes you can have without the veggie cheese. its very tasty website: http://www.thaican.com/GOVINDA.php (5) Saras large Indian Restaurant (fast food style). such a HUGE variety of dishes to choose from. maybe 150 choices!! (from all over india). 100% vegetarian. Many dishes are excellent. unfortunately there is not much explanation of the dishes on the menu, (but the waiters speak perfect english). Soi 20, oposite the Windsor Hotel. Website: https://www.facebook.com/SarasVegFood (6) Any Lebanese restaurant has a large amount of Salads and Vegetable dishes (ie: Moussaka, Dolma, Tabbouleh Salad, Fattoush Salad, Hummus, Falafel, Nan-Bread, etc). Personally, I like:Nandimos (Soi 24, right down the bottom of the Soi, right side). [near Rama 4]. http://www.nadimos.com Cafe de Beirut (Soi 2, next to Starbucks, directly opposite the entrance of the JR Marriott Hotel). http://www.beirut-restaurant.com/?menu Beirut (inside the 'Food Loft', 7th Floor, Central Department Store, Chidlom). - same owner and menu as Cafe de Beirut. http://www.beirut-restaurant.com/?menu
