PHITSANULOK: -- Soldiers in Phitsanulok who heard about a seven year old girl who had to look after her handicapped mum all day have come to the family's aid.

Jomjem, 7, had been missing days at school so that she could cater to the needs of her mum Lanthom Chaimon who is physically handicapped and could not help herself move about. Dad - Wai Chaimon - is there but has to go out to work all day so the family has some money, reported Thairath.

Jomjem was often left at home helping her mum all day rather than studying in the P1 (Grade 1) class at the Ban Rong Yung Khao school.

Local soldiers have now swung into action to help the family. Improvements have been made to the house with things such as sturdy rails so that mum can get about and look after herself more while Jomjem - real name Janthapha Chaimon - can go to school every day.

She was pictured with some of the proud army personnel who presented her with a brand new bike that will help her get to school in double quick time.

Great PROPAGANDA story !!!

How about getting somebody to take care of the Mom ...

So.. how would you establish a welfare state in Thailand?

Bear in mind how low their GDP per capita is before you answer the question.

And the very next article is the "DSD promote Thaiand as the hub of aged elderly care".

Must be by encouraging all 7 year olds to skip education to care for the old. So the same policy that has been in place for the last 50 years and they wonder why the country is going backwards.

Every little helps. Well done to those who helped.

Nice to see the Thai Visa cynics out in force this morning.....bet they have sprayed their keyboards with their morning gruel as they 'react' to a positive story......

You only need to read some of the nonsense posted to see the intelligence of some posters, actually using the word intelligence is a bit of a stretch.

Pity the current administration is so full of their own importance, they could axe three quarters of the over bloated military and spend the money on things like helping this beaut young lady Mother , meanwhile , using the little girl as promo fodder to Return Happiness to the People is just crap, as far as adults are concerned, those who have some sense of morals............................................coffee1.gif .

Cut the Military budget down by three quarters, axe the Sub and the Tanks.

Carefully contrived puff piece, designed to create the impression that this stuff happens all the time and all over the place and is just one more way the 'Royal' Thai Army looks after the welfare of their beloved Thai brothers and sisters.

God bless the soldiers eh?

Hearts of gold eh?

Especially, let's forget the unarmed Thais they've mercilessly gunned down in order to preserve the psychopathic status quo. And the human trafficking. And the drug smuggling. And the forced 'disappearances'. And the rest of it.

And sooper-dooper especially, lets forget the unusual wealth their generals have derived. Prayuth - 600,000,000 on a soldier's salary? Ok, no problem whatsoever there.

Some people think that Thai journalism is absolutely the pits. I can't imagine why...
