double charging by etihad

I have flown with Etihad several times and five of which times I have paid with my Bangkok Bank Debit Card, and three of said five times I have been charged twice by Etihad. Now on every occasion Bangkok Bank have blamed Etihad , and Etihad have blamed Bangkok Bank and or me. Well it seems it could be the fault of Bangkok Bank, but the evidence points to Etihad being to blame. You see I have booked in the region of fifty hotels, and twenty flights with my Bangkok bank Debit Card and during said bookings I have only been double charged once with represents a 1.4% double charge rate, but with Etihad their double charge rate is 60% so if anyone wants to book an Etihad flight the best plan would be to make sure that there is not enough funds in your account for a double charging to be successful

I don't use a Thai bank and as far as I can remember have never been double charged for hotels or flights............

I h.ave used Etihad on several occasions, paid with UK card never been overcharged.

Personally i think you should be looking at the bank more than Etihad

BA don't double charge you - they make you miss your connection; deliver you 6 hours late & your luggage 48 hrs later still.

I flew with Etihad 2 years ago the problem is not double charging its the way Bangkok Bank applies the payments, I booked through a online travel company who obtained the authorisation for the total amount including there booking fee. When the transaction was applied to my Bangkok Bank account Etihad charged the flight and the booking agent charged there fee using the same authorisation code. This caused a problem with Bangkok Bank systems and I got charged twice for the flight. After about 2 days a lots of complaining I go got my money back.

I have booked flights with Etihad many times. 20? Never been double charged. Always use a UK credit card.

Booked with Etihad 2 days ago using a UK based debit card and yep, double charged.  Called Etihad and they could see both charges on their system (they had made both of them, nothing to do with the UK bank) but they claimed one of them was only a "soft" charge and would be refunded automatically.  If it is I will be surprised, it will be the first "hold" on my account that has ever appeared in my statement.  Will avoid in future.

Thank you we are not the only ones, it is also possible if a customer has a large balance and many transactions that he will notice and Etihad could end up keeping the stolen money

They have double charged me three times and every time they call  "only a soft charge" if me or you went into their office and stole 40,000 baht, and then when caught said we were only stealing their money softly ....i doubt if they would accept the excuse, and let us off provided we refunded the money that we stole
