In praise of Christian architecture

There are two types of men in this world: those who admire and respect Christian architecture, and those who don't. This thread is for men who do.

There are far more Christian churches in Thailand than you might imagine. I can think of a few in BKK, for example, and I always remember an interesting, Gothic-looking edifice on the other side of the river from Bang Pa-In.

In this ground-breaking thread, your mission -- if you choose to accept it -- is to offer feedback about Christian buildings here in the Realm.

Allow me to start.

My son's mother comes from a tiny village in Yasothon (Isaan) which is home to Thailand's largest wooden church. It's called St Michael's Church, and features in the Unseen Thailand campaign.

It took me about a decade and many attempts to get my wife into a magnificent cathedral in Sydney to try to get her to appreciate the stained glass windows and wonderful architecture. She was pleasantly surprised once inside, but not something she would write home about.

Many years ago we stumbled across a brand new church somewhere on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. It just looked out of place.
