Polls show divided America with Democrats viewed more favorably after convention

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- A number of polls released Monday show a divided America though more people view the Democratic Party and its presidential nominee Hillary Clinton favorably after the party's national convention in Philadelphia last week.

Cambodia asks Thailand to Delay Worker Registration

A Labor Ministry spokesman said that Thailand’s Labor Ministry has requested a month delay in providing passports and travel cards to Cambodians working across the border because the Thai side is preparing an online data management system and to continue using pink cards in the meantime. In April, Labor Minister Ith Sam Heng announced the suspension of a service offering passports, travel cards and labor cards for Cambodians working overseas from April 1 to July 29 in order to allow Thailand do a census of foreign workers. The commission was to start taking applications again today.

Rangers reconsider no-marriage policy after same-sex couple appeals

YALA: -- The ranger regiment was prompted to reconsider their regulation that all rangers must remain single after two female rangers from the south of Thailand made an appeal to their superiors to get married to one another.

Phuket-Hong Kong flights largely unaffected by Typhoon Nida

PHUKET: -- Despite Hong Kong’s flagship carrier Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary Dragonair cancelling all of their flights in and out of Hong Kong from 4am to 4pm today as Typhoon Nida swept past, flights arriving and departing Phuket International Airport (PIA) remain largely unaffected.

EC allows several international bodies to observe referendum

Security agencies crackdown on illegal activities prior to referendum

New app lets you drop pin at street locations where street maintenance is needed

BANGKOK: -- A new app will let Bangkok city residents drop pins wherever they see street issues needing repairs. For example, tangled wires, phone booths that have become dog and cat habitats, stolen manhole covers and potholes can be reported.
