CHONBURI: -- The Chonburi Immigration website has announced last month's prize catches with pictures and details in a rogue's gallery.

The announcements were made under the banner "Good guys in, Bad guys out".

Top of the overstayers was Permjit Singh Pa, 26, arrested on 21st July at Rainbow House, Pattaya, for 631 days.

He faces a ten year ban if he would like to come back to Thailand.

The "silver medal" went to Iranian Majid Aram who was nabbed on the 27th of July in front of Chonburi Immigration itself. He had overstayed 213 days and faces a five year ban.

Coming in a distant third was UK citizen Patrick Smith, 48, apprehended outside La Brasserie restaurant in Pattaya. He also faces a five year sojourn for his 148 days illegally in the kingdom.

Also mentioned in dispatches was Nanthaphop Sukhonthamat, 37, who was fined for not reporting a foreigner staying at the Pannathorn Guest House, in Pattaya within 24 hours of the guest's arrival.

All the policemen and immigration officials related to each arrest were also mentioned by name in each case.

Champion overstayers:facepalm:

So what is their prize, other than being banned from reentering for a while?

A free booklet on 'common sense'.

:cheesy::clap2:

I like the idea , only in Thailand , maybe they could receive a prize on their way out of the kingdom ? Maybe a short time room with a ladyboy ?

This rather mocking and cynical journalistic style which has recently sprouted up when reporting Pattaya crime news may well lead to some reporters' arrests. Disrespect the cops here at your peril.

Seriously?

Great Idea! I like it!

Just think registered sim cards should make it even easier

I would have thought far from being a 5 year sojourn, it has come to an end - or will he be imprisoned for 5 years?

Yes what a great headline!

One of the folks up in my remote part of the world, is on his way out health wise. I guess they've missed him in the roundups.

7 years!! Overstay.

No one really understands why a guy with copious rubber plantations, a house with all the family around him and so on and so forth would endanger his situation in this way. Now wheel chair bound, to be sent home at this stage of things would be

outrageously inconvenient. Strange, this overstaying thing, when you have all the qaulaifications to remain.

Thailand is very compassionate ...until bureaucracy gets in its way, maybe if someone has the means to support themselves in such a situation they could ask for compassionate consideration.

According to some

Soon besides tourists being sim tagged overstayers will be flogged merciously or hanged in city squares and condemned by begrudged long term TV members  who have poured scorn upon such unfortunates over many years. Yes retribution is on the cards !!!!

HEY AMERICA! WAKE UP! THIS is what you do with people who are in your country illegally!!

If they like, they will come back with new passport and with a new name....:gigglem::gigglem::gigglem:

Bust of the century.   overstaying a visa.    :coffee1:

Please remember

The real bad guys all have the correct visa,  live in expensive houses and drive expensive cars.

The pattaya  pantomime,    its behind you,  Oh no its not,  Oh yes it is,   Oh no its not,  Oh yes it is.

Should one ever contemplate being an overstayer, one would need his brain examined if he were to either be anywhere near the "front of Chonburi Immigration" or within 50kms of Pattaya.  Their collective IQ most likely did not reach double figures.

Norwegians should never try and make jokes,  it just comes over very badly.

I suppose their 5 min of fame on national media is sort of a prize.

Some people kill to get on the news you know.

But such a booklet would be empty, cos by definition, it is "common", meaning known to all as it's self evident, so no point in writing any explanation text in such a wee book.

I would think the "prize" would go to the Immigration or Police Division who caught the biggest fish.

It would appear that common sense is known to most rather than all.

Maybe they have spent too much time with katoey's in short time rooms, hence the overstay :whistling:

Nice,, this new classification: gold, silver and bronze medal prizes..  :D

Measly two years? Out in the sticks there are a few with 20+ years lurking about. Far for champions, these.

wow that's some excellent blurring done in that photo... you'd never recognise him at all LOL

I bet MOST Thai condo owners don;t do this report after they rent to a falang.
