if one has a Thai e-passport with biometric details, why do they need to go in person when applying for an Australian visa to give the biometrics again?

 

Am i missing something?

Australia does not hold any record of the Biometrics of the applicant, this is required. The visa is registered biometrically to the person, to stop fraud.

bit miffed as we live on Samui but we have to go apply in person Bangkok.  last year we just went to Surat and sent eveything by post.
