Photo: Chutharat Plerin PHUKET: -- The publication of a list of 20 offices where officers are allegedly extorting bribes from employers of migrant workers has prompted the governor and the provincial police head to condemn corruption and vow to investigate the allegations. The list, which details officers’ names, departments and phone numbers, went viral across social media sites including Facebook and Line, yesterday. Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada demanded to see the evidence to find out whether there was any truth to the extortion allegations. trogers
Any wonder on the level of corruption in the local offices in Phuket? How else can officials survive on average Thai pay while the cost of living in Phuket is similar to Singapore?

volsfan
Phuket Provincial Police Commander Teeraphol Thipjaroen said he was aware of the list and that "justice will be served". Undoubtedly at the expense of the people doing the reporting, rather than the actual criminals.
Reigntax
So the governor will investigate the cops but what out as the cops may start to investigate him and his men. I see a negotiated non investigation agreement between both corrupt groups so the 'Phuket business model' can just continue as is.

Phuket may be more expensive than most of Thailand but to compare the cost of living to Singapore is just ridiculous.

Economics 101! You could have mentioned taxis which are cheaper in Singapore than Phuket.(Probably cheaper anywhere else on the planet).

No point using expat lifestyles and costs of the two places. Lower yourself to grassroot levels.
