Authorities crackdown on crime while students campaign for voter turnout ahead of referendum

  

THAILAND, 5 August 2016 (NNT) - Security agencies in Phrae province are cracking down on illegal activities, while students from Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University have started a get-out-the-vote campaign ahead of the public referendum. 

Pol Lt Gen Suphat Chompitakdecha of the Muang Phrae Police Station delivered a progress report on crime suppression, as security units move to enforce law and order ahead of the referendum on August 7th. 

The report detailed arrests in the capital district of a 30-year-old man for carrying a .38-caliber firearm, as well as a 48-year-old man for drug possession. The suspects are in police custody and will be prosecuted according to the law. 

Meanwhile, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University have held a teacher appreciation ceremony in conjunction with its campaign to encourage participation in the referendum. Flower pedestals were decorated with messages encouraging people to cast their votes on August 7th.
