Gen Wuthi pledged his assurance at a meeting at Phuket Provincial Police headquarters in Phuket Town this morning, when many of the consuls aired their grievances about being poorly informed of police action in investigating the bombings. At the high-powered meeting were Central Investigation Bureau Deputy Commissioner Maj Gen Adis Ngamchitsuksri, Region 8 Police Deputy Commander Maj Gen Chalit Thinthani and Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Teerapol Thipjaroen. Also present was Phuket Vice Governor Chokdee Amornwat, the superintendents of all police stations across Phuket and a host of other law-enforcement officials. Maj Gen Teerapol recognised that many people, especially tourists and other visitors, were concerned for their safety after the explosions in Patong last Friday. Brer Fox
Top RTP brass at a high powered meeting with foreign consuls. How good does it get? And after the announcement that Phuket and Patong and the rest of Thailand was now safe the fifteen consuls cheered and clapped and stamped their feet. Surely even a sumptuous buffet lunch of farmed seafood full of antibiotics could not possibly make foreign embassy's believe this nonsense Bedtime stories don't get any better than this. NCC1701A
Why do Thai police have parachute medals? "The bombing suspects are getting away!" "I will go up on the condo rooftop and jump off with my parachute!" "Good thinking! GO!"

NongKhaiKid
Emphatic blanket assurances like this are dangerous, might just provoke someone into proving them wrong.

klauskunkel
"Tourists in Phuket were safe before the bomb. Now, after the bomb, they are safe, again. They were not safe during the bomb, but that was a small amount of time. If there is another bomb in the future, tourists won't be safe during the explosion, but before and after they will be safe." 15 consuls look at each other... spidermike007
My guess is that the consuls walked away brimming with confidence. Can you imagine what they really felt? Being told by these guys who are dressed up like law enforcement, wearing badges, and carrying guns, and by all appearances looking like real cops. Yet, not a single one of them, more than likely has any law enforcement skills approaching even a policeman in Burkina Faso. And not a single one of them will ever do anything if there is no cash involved, or pressure from high up the chain. Sorry guys. Your cover is blown. The entire planet knows who you are. The entire planet does not consider you law enforcement.

Didn't you read "high powered, big boys etc. etc." your as snug as a bug in a rug. Somehow I feel what happened is not a one off attention getter. If these nutters are moving further north that means trouble. I notice the big boys in the picture were also attended by 3 guys in the second row. Personal groomers/goofers??? At their level they usually have 3 or 4 each at their beck and call. That is why the actual policing part has very little "working" staff.
