Meeting held to discuss means to protect religions

BANGKOK: -- The Religious Affairs Department has been tasked with compiling information about religious conflicts, criticisms or attacks of religions which appear in the social media for discussions among parties concerned so that measures can be worked out to deal with the problems.

The assignment given to the Religious Affairs Department is one of the three resolutions adopted at a meeting of agencies concerned with religious affairs and leaders of five legally-recognised religions chaired by Culture Minister Veera Rotepotchanarat.

The meeting was a follow-up of an announcement issued by head of the National Council for Peace and Order in compliance with Section 44 of the interim charter supposedly to protect and support religions in this country against subservice attempts to sow the seeds of religious conflicts.

The other resolutions adopted at the meeting call for the Religious Affairs Department to invite a meeting with leaders of the five legally-recognised religions namely Buddhism, Islam, Brahma-Hindu, Christianity and Sikh to discuss religion-related problems.

The department is expected to come up with a report to be submitted to the prime minister for consideration within three months.

The regime should realise that going after religions and trying to take control of them with the evil barbaric sect 44 isn't going hep.  Does the idiot Prayuth really think that the pope and the Vatican is going to hand over control of the Catholic Church to self obsessed evil madman like Prayuth.

As I understand it the Catholic Church in China can only operate under the control of the state and therefore isn't recognized by the Vatican.

Is the junta here becoming paranoid to the extent that they have to have input if not control of everything because I don't see what support and protection the named religions need and as it stands some people within the Buddhist aspect are very well   '   protected  '    as it is.

Maybe he is irked that unlike the UN, the EU, the USA and most other countries and international organisations, Almighty God has yet to issue a statement to the effect that he understands that Thailand is different and is impressed with the efforts to follow the roadmap...

You are indeed correct that is why Uncle Too has utilised Section 44 to transfer Almighty God to an "inactive post".

As a side issue, whichever version of the Almighty you follow, it appears that they only needed around 10 sections in order to ensure compliance by a sustantial majority of the worlds population.

If as it say's in the OP Thailand is trying to prevent people sowing seeds of religious conflict,  It seems current laws already cover that issue, and half the reason why the separatists conflict's in the south now coming further north.

Then you have a plethora of other religions also in the mix.

Governments messing with and trying to apply control over peoples religion is a sh__t fight waiting to happen.

NOTE;   Not an attack on Islam but a simple fact written in the Qur'an.

Any one who has read the Qur'an,  Knows what the book requires Muslim's to do to those that are non-Muslim's,  and Muslim's that do not do as the Qur'an requires are not good Muslim's and there for going against the Qur'an and it's teachings, and the penalty for apostasy is death.  just one example of just how sticky this can get. So IMO the government should back right off on this little gem.

This should settle the question of whether Buddhism is a religion, at least from the perspective of the Thai government.

Oh I think they do ( regard it as a religion). The entrance to our local barracks has a huge sign with the motto " King, Country and Religion"

Somehow I don't think that they're  referring to the Baptists!

Of course it may be argued that The Buddha never intended it to be a religion, but like so many other belief systems elsewhere it has often been seized upon by governments to reinforce their positions. I should imagine this is what is behind the Junta's sudden interest in religions, and what they are teaching.

Perhaps the General should start by looking at Mark:12: verse 17.
(and before you groan "bible basher" I had to look it up!)
