It would depend on the basis for the relationship.

 

Many women in western countries marry somebody in their own socioeconomic strata, so know the circumstances, and hang in there.

 

On the other hand, many/most Thai women marry a foreigner for nothing other than economic benefit, and they definitely wouldn't hang around if the ,money dried up.

 

Of course, there re mercenary women (and men) in every country/culture, not just restricted to Thai/Asian women, but I think that on percentages, there would be far more who marry for money, with NO other reason.

Sad when you are married or even have a girlfriend and still need to pay her as though she is a bar girl. Good on this guy if he is happy to do this, but is he her husband or customer?  Been with my girl for 5 years and she has never asked me for money.  Its no different from any relationship I have had before, we live together, both work and everything is pooled and paid for.  She doesn't even buy a dress without asking even though she is contributing as well.  Even the family doesn't ask for money, they all work and are self supporting.
