webfact
Pope shares pizza lunch with the poor Catherine Hardy 120,000 pack St Peter’s Square ROME: -- An estimated 120,000 people filled St Peter’s Square in Rome for the canonisation mass for Mother Teresa. However, the crowds were not as large as the 300,000 who turned out for the new saint’s beatification in 2003. Observers say security fears may have played their part. 3,000 police and security officials patrolled the area around the Vatican. Airspace above was closed. Applause erupted in St Peter’s Square even before the pontif finished pronouncing the rite of canonisation, proof of the admiration Mother Teresa enjoyed from Christians and non-Christians alike during her life and after her death in 1997. The “highlight” of the Holy Year of Mercy The canonisation is the highlight of Francis’ Holy Year of Mercy. A member of the Franciscan order, his papacy has been dedicated to ministering to society’s most marginal. Pontiff shares papal pizza with the poor Pope Francis has shared a pizza lunch with 1,500 homeless people at the Vatican after Mother Teresa’s canonisation ceremony. Most of those invited live in shelters run by the new saint’s order, the Sisters of Charity. They were brought to the Vatican by bus from across Italy, to be present for Sunday’s canonisation mass, where they were given seats of honour. gandalf12
The Pope should sell some of the priceless artifacts in th Vatican if he really wants to help people. He sits in a place so far removed from the real world it is an insult to humanity when he has pizza with the people.

halloween
After the recent Mother Teresa revelations, it might be better if the Vatican returns to its former policy of waiting until everybody that knew the candidate are long dead before declaring sainthood. Don't forget he is there only for his Roman Catholic sheep. The rest can go to hell. The real Christians are the Reformed ones. And don't forget the Vatican has a double agenda. arjunadawn
This pope is quite steeped in the distractions of the Roman Emperors, for sure. It was only weeks ago he took the poor to the beach for a day. While it can be argued that the poorest among us should have a day off, a way to bath, to clean clothes, to enjoy the park, etc. I get that. This is not that story! The pope is uniquely in a position to actually change lives and move agenda. The only agenda this pope has been interested in is the secular political agenda of the progressive left. Pizza, beach trips, etc., is nonsense. Washing feet is meaningful as a symbol of Christ's anointing; otherwise, he is infatuated with his own Simony. I speak to this often elsewhere; anti- this, and anti- that, are every bit as much a religion as are traditional faiths. The religion of modern progressive/(often) atheists is every bit as much a religion as Catholicism. On each point of religion modern secularism has no more information that god exists than those who assert god does. Thus, this is their deity-not-god. There scripture and orthodoxy are agenda and its authors. Its priests are its politicians and judicial legislation.
