Noisy frogs - fish predator?

No it doesn`t. These nets are a dark grey colour and blend into the environment perfectly hardly noticeable. They do not obscure the view of the fish whatsoever.

Frogs are good for the environment and many are becoming endangered species. Sometimes they can jump into deep ponds with no means of escape and drown. The net also helps stop fish from jumping out of ponds that can often be fatal for fish if they land on a bank or elsewhere in a garden.

Any responsible people who care about wildlife and the safety of their pond fish will have overlaid their ponds with these nets.

islandguy wanted a solution to his pond problem and here it is.

My neighbor is keen on putting in a net. To me it seems that cleaning both above and below the net would be a pain in the *&*. It is a small pond, however.

Thinking of draining the pond (used to do in monthly when there were big fish and nothing else besides mosquito eating fish lived there - no plants either). The fish shit caused algae blooms and turbidity. Now he tells me that he currently has a lot of frogs under his house. It seems they would infiltrate the pond immediately if so. But it also seems to me that the frogs attracting snakes is a problem that could be much more serious to me than the neighbors problem with noise. Not sure if eliminating the pond as a breeding ground would make a big difference, but there didn't used to be many frogs around here.

At the beginning of this year I had a medium size fish pond in my garden, with beautiful fish I reared from babies and had them for 7 years. Then last April when we had that record hot summer all the fish died from the heat that really upset me and decided I`m not going to have anymore fish.

On each corner of the pond I had a large hook. I just stretched the net over the pond the corners of the net pulled onto the hooks. When the pond required cleaning, I just pulled the corners of the net off the hooks and lifted it off. Very easy.

The net never needed to be cleaned, any dust that had accumulated on the net I just shook the net a bit and then as good as new.

Sounds like another idiot winging farang neighbor.

Maybe he just moved in there and is not used to frog calls.

I think the sound is relaxing and exotic... and anyway, after a short time you don't notice the noise anymore as you get used to it.

I think he is way out of line going into you property and taking stuff (even the frogs) without you knowing.. and no normal person would do that.

Be careful, after the frogs have gone it will be something else he will find to upset himself with.

If you keep the frogs they actually will do a good job is keeping down the mosquitoes and other nasty insect pests... and once their breeding season is over they will not be calling anyway.

snakehead fish to eat frogs, you can find live ones at the local market for cheap, but they will also eat smaller fish as they are a predator.

yeah, not a good idea. they eat everything else as well and grow huge.

snakehead fish wont stop until it has eaten or damaged everything in the pond

If a neighbour trespassed onto the property and started messing about with my pond I would be entitled, probably legally, to physically escort him off the land.

If the neighbour doesn`t like the sound of nature coming from the OPs garden then tell him to get stuffed or move. Can`t understand why the OP is putting up with all this crap, I wouldn`t.

I expect it won't cause him any sleepless nights. We have loads around us never bothers us at all. I can see why your neighbour says what he does.

So you think I am unreasonable for complaining about his noisy dogs?  Perhaps the Thai neighbor across the street is unreasonable for complaining and threatening a lawsuit as well?  This a gated community; no one gets in or out without going through the security procedures and people live here because it is quiet and secure.  No home businesses, no vendors, no livestock, no unauthorized persons of any sort.  I pay a premium for that level of security. and comfort.  There are seven other dogs in the neighborhood and I am quite surprised if I ever hear them.   When I move to the wife's village in a few years I will put up and live with  the village noises but I shouldn't have to here.
