NCPO invokes Article 44 to protect honest officials involved in state-controlled farm supplies

BANGKOK, 15 September 2016 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order has invoked a special law to ensure that officials, who have performed their jobs dutifully in the sale of farm products under the government’s control, will not be punished.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Kraiboon Suadsong, Chairman of the Public Warehouse Organization, said that Prime Minister and Chief of the NCPO Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has issued an order, which cites Article 44 of the interim Constitution, to protect officials, who perform their roles honestly in the management of agricultural supplies under the government’s supervision, and to punish anyone, who has been involved in any fraudulent act.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Kraiboon said that the order has been in effect since September 13 and will make sure that any officials involved in the tapioca and maize subsidy programs implemented before May 22 of 2014, will not be prosecuted if they have been working honestly to prevent damage being incurred by any inefficient management of the supplies.

He added that, under Article 44, any officers of the Legal Execution Department who have been diligently performing their jobs related to the subsidy programs for rice, tapioca and maize as animal feed, from 2005 to 2016 will also be legally protected.

There's at least three lists of supposedly corrupt officials that saw little action being taken.

I'll bet the list of ' honest ' officials will be lengthy and contain some interesting names, if ever made public.

Why do "honest" officials need protection?

Is there something amiss with the legal system? I thought it was already "reformed"?

Just use Article 44 to group people into "good people" and "others", and be done with the facade of equality.

OK,  let's get this right,,,   so "honest officials" need the trusty S44 whipped out to protect them from what,,,   corruption charges???

Now sorry again but I'm really gonna go out on a limb here,  wouldn't an honest official be required to report any corruption/dodgy dealing to police/higher up's??? and those that didn't would be guilty of being complicit in the corruption???

ALLLLL,righty then,   who's family or best buddy's have been caught with their fingers in yet another cookie jar and need the lil general's S44 to let them walk free again???   Not his brother again huh???

I have experienced before , this mob of spiffs are no better than the Junta's of old , they have all had a section 44 of sorts , this can become very versatile , this is a blatant attempt at protecting their own , you have to watch these shits as they will pull more of this as time goes on, like they say,  something old is something new..............................................:coffee1:.
