Hi Guys - hope you are well.

I am on a one year marriage extension visa here, and it expires 20th October.  I want to go with the wife for a short holiday to the UK on about 18th October.  Am i able to take all my papers to immigration about the 13th October, and apply for another extension to my married visa, and at the same time get an exit permit, plus the 30 days under consideration stamp.  Can i then leave thailand, have three weeks in the UK with the Mrs, and get back to thailand about 10th November, then just go to immigration, and hopefully collect my new one year visa?

Assuming i can do the above, if i applied on 13th October, and was told to return on 13th November to immigration, but ended up being a few days late (so my 30 days consideration stamp would have expired), would i have problems?

Thanks i advance for any help :wai:

The re-entry (not exit) permit will only be valid for entry up the report back date on the under consideration stamp. After that date you would get a visa exempt entry and your application would be lost meaning you would have to start all over again by getting a new non-o visa.

Some offices start the 30 days from when the current extension ends. It seems though you are aware the office you use does it from the date of application.

As long as you have a re-entry permit and return before the under consideration date your plan would work.

If you need more time you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife (if you haven't already done so during your current entry) that would start from October 21st, buy a re-entry permit which would allow you to return anytime before October 21st, and then apply for the 1 year extension towards the end of the 60 days (early Oct).

Would most/all immigrations offices issue a 60 day extension to someone here on a one year extension? Just asking. I don't know the answer.

Only if married to a Thai or the parent of a Thai.

Only one 60 day extension can be done per entry. An entry from a re-entry permit is not considered a new entry in this case.

Sorry to hijack your question but I am interested in the 60 day extension, I am currently on a 1 year extension due to marriage which expires beginning of next month. I don't have the funds to do another 1 year extension, can I do the 60 day extension??  Sakon Nakhon immigration?

Yes you can providing you have not done one since you got the entry you have extended for one year.

Your wife will need to be with you when you apply and have your marriage certificate plus copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card. You will need proof of residence also unless living where your wife's house book is for.

Superb, thanks, do you know how much it costs and how much space it takes in the passport?

The fee is 1900 baht for all extensions. It will be less than one third of a page.

I am sure the stamps used vary from office to office, but the only 60 day extension I've had took up just over half a page.

I am new to the forum and don't know how to create a new thread, probably the least of my current worries. I live in bkk and have a non O Thai wife visa. I'm getting divorced,at the same time I'm applying for a work permit.  I know I need a non b now because if I get the permit on my non O,then after the divorce,my permit will be invalid.(the wife will go to immigration and tell them we got divorced). So,because I'm not technically divorced yet, I need to cancel my non O before I go to Laos to get my non immigrant B correct? Or not? Also, why can't I do an application for change of visa form Tm86 instead of leaving the country?

Please redirect this to the appropriate forum or thread if needed, but I'm at my wits end now and desperate.  My employer is a great guy,but nobody's English is very good, and I really don't trust the information online.

Thanks,B

Do you have a visa entry (90 days) or a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage?

You don't need to cancel anything until the day your divorce is finalised, and only then if you have an extension based on marriage.

But Im getting a work permit soon, before my divorce. So I can't get a permit with a visa that will be cancelled soon, right? Thanks for your answer.

See answer in the new tread you just opened.

something wrong with the dates here, the current permission stamp expires on the 20th oct so a 60 day extension and the re-entry permit based on it will expire on the 19th dec, so will need to apply for a new 1 year extension prior to this date.

Thanks, you're right. I seem to have lost the plot with that one!
