PHUKET:-- As the Prime Minister arrived in Phuket with his entourage on Friday the public seemed more concerned with a black Toyota van parked at the airport.

The van was to be the PM's transport to his next engagement following the airport expansion opening after a helicopter trip was cancelled.

Members of the public - mindful that Friday was the drawing of the National Lottery - eagerly jotted down the 5522 license plate.

However, on this occasion it failed to bring in the big bucks; the last two digits came out as 42 that had appeared in reverse order earlier on a plane that carried the PM to the southern province.

Meanwhile Big Too was guest of honor presiding over the opening of the new building at the Phuket international airport.

Officials said it is hoped that the upgrade will mean an increase in passengers from 6.5 million to 12.5 million a year.

Some members of the Phuket public took the opportunity to take some amusing selfies with the PM. The one in our picture was not identified.

The PM must be very happy with the preoccupation about the lottery as it keeps the people from thinking about what he's getting up to and all the country's ills.

Well I guess the PM has finally learned the natural order of things in Thailand. He is running a poor third in this case. Social media, lotteries more important than self serving politicians. How could this be possible. When will the people ever become serious about politics? Obvious answer when we get some serious people serving politicians.

Dream on - politicians are serious people. Serious about making money as fast as possible while they cling onto office.
