Where can I find a decent hair dresser ?

Featured Replies

This will be my first hair cut in Chiang Mai. I am a man , my hair is sensitive and require someone who knows how to handle a scissor. Someone recommended Absolute hair in an old thread but I would like to have some recent updates. I am willing to pay up to 400 baht if they speak good english and know how to handle western hair.

Most of us get our hair cut for 100 baht or less and do not require an English speaker but maybe there is someone with the knowledge you wish.

New York, New York on Nimman Soi 13 fancies itself to be like a high-end salon in NYC.  Everyone I know who requires a good knowledge of western hair and especially a good knowledge of what westerners want when coloring their hair has moved to NY, NY  You may have to pay a little more than 400 baht for a haircut, but probably not much more for a simple man's haircut and/or short women's hair.  Definitely ALL the staff speak good English here:

I agree, though, that once you've been here for a time, you'll probably develop enough Thai language skills and local knowledge to find someone to cut your hair for under 150 baht.  Simply ask people who meet who have hair that looks like yours -- or rather looks like you'd like yours to look and ask where they get their hair cut and take some Thai language lessons and ask the teacher to focus on "survival Thai lessons", with one session on "how to get a haircut".

Still, I find it valuable to get a "high end" cut every so often to keep the 150 baht guy on his toes and give him a pattern to work with.

Thanks also I think there is a couple of hair salons inside Airport Plaza that has been recommended before , maybe a bit cheaper than NY NY . I understand a bit of Thai but the main problem in Thailand is to find someone who knows how to use a scissor.

Mondays and Tuesdays in the evenings at Meechok Plaza there is a pop-up salon with four barbers who do modern, close-cropped men's styles. I believe that all haircuts are 200 baht.

They look very sharp.

I think I found it now. Absolute Sequel in Meechok Plaza, professional hair cut , and not too expensive. They know how to listen to their customers and english is not a problem . Thats always a good sign.

I always thought it was a better sign if the customers spoke Thai with their barber.

so sorry ,  got no hair, there fore unable to  give you a heads up

its a,  Bald  is Beautiful:) super evening to all my adorers :D

For me its a better sign since my Thai is very limited. Capisce ?

Sensitive hair. Is that the hair that is combed over the top of the head to try and disguise baldness...:cheesy:

Thanks for that. I used to go to the branch near ksk but the traffic is always a nightmare. Meechok is only ten minutes from where I live.

Ask for Ong, he knows what he's doing, he is one of the owners I believe.
