Very few countries (if any) pay immigrant workers the minimum wage. That is why they let them into the country. The wage is down to the employer. The immigrant workers, even though they may be paid below 'the minimum', still earn more than they could back home thus enabling them to send money to their families. That is why they apply to go there in the first place. Yes, some employers push the boundaries of what is acceptable - there will always be a few bad apples. -

Well on the flip side, there has probably been a couple of hundred Palestinian women and children killed for each hostage taken and for each Israel killed on Oct 7 2023. That collective terminal punishment should show Hamas a thing or two, 'eh? I think I saw how effective that was in a movie. "Kill one of ours we'll kill 100 of yours." Fair's fair, right? -

8-Year-Old Boy Drowns While Playing in Overflowing Water Weir: Kamphaeng Phet
I can remember back when I was 10yr old, when a boy from our school drowned swimming near the bridge supports in the river Thames, it was was popular then for us kids to go swimming in the river, especially during the summer holidays, but most did it a long way from the bridge. At Morning School assembly, we got a very strong lecture on what had happened and why, that year our school built a small swimming pool, maybe only about 5meters wide and 20meters max long, then we all had swimming lessons (games) it was bloody freezing, but we got on and done it, I remember the teacher got the whole class to walk around in the water in one direction until we had created a current, then she blew the whistle and we had to change direction against the current, although I could already swim, it was a very important lesson learnt. The pool was open for us to use in the summer holidays, we had no local swimming pool at that time. Oh and I was the first one ever to swim the length of it underwater, and mentioned in assembly. I taught myself to swim on our 2 week holiday every year while mum and dad slept in deckchairs, I was the only one in our family out of 5 able to swim. (and drive when I got older) -

"Shoplifting costs the consumer in the end". No it doesn't, if shoplifting was completely eradicated tomorrow, prices would still keep going up by the same amount, there is capitalism and greed everywhere. -

Oh, absolutely. I've said he was not my first choice for the GOP nomination. But, given the situation where there is only a binary decision between him and Harris, the choice is blindingly obvious. Warts and all, Trump did a good job as President. Harris was an abject failure as VP. That is what matters, not personalities.- 1
