BANGKOK: -- Bangkok has beefed up security at all public transportations and private sectors are asked for cooperation to help watch out suspicious movements following alert by national security officials of attempted bomb attacks by southern insurgents at the fourth week of this month.

The security beef-up at ground transportation which includes bus terminals, electric train stations, tourist destinations, railway station was revealed as the deputy governor of Bangkok Amorn Kijchawengkul, inspected the Skytrain operation at Siam station.

He said that as the Siam station serves over 100,000 commuters daily and was attacked by bomb last year, tightened security at the place was necessary, and the daily patrol of 500 a day was doubled.

He said the Siam station is a centre of the inspection of unusual movement and throughout the 354 stations along the entire electric rail lines, over 1,500 CCTVs were deployed.
