I am on the point of buying an ASUS Zenfone 3 Max.  I don't play games so don't need a powerful phone.

One thing I would like to do it to have a separate ringtone for my wife, a different one for my daughters and a third one for everybody else.

I have downloaded  the manual for the phone but it just skips over ringtones so I don't know if  I can do this.

I have read about an app called 'ringo' which seems to be able to set different ringtones per contact, But can it do this even if the phone itself cannot?

Any help much appreciated. Ta.

yes, this can be done with apps if the stock dialer cannot do this.

I use the Zenfone 2 for a while, the wife the Zenfone 5 and both of us are very happy with the phones. As I shattered my screen yet again I'm in the market for the 3 as well.

Not a Zenphone but I just checked Android 5.1 settings.."Sound and Notification" and could find no option for individualized ringtones.  I'm actually surprised as that feature has been around for years...even on old cheap Nokia's.

I suggest you check the zenphone website and see if you can find "individual Ringtones"  Asus layers it's own  ZEN UI over Android and it has many unique features.

I don't know if this helps but I use an app called Zedge on my Android phone.  It's in the Playstore and provides many, many ringtones, animated wallpapers and more.  May not be compatible with your Asus phone but might be worth a look.

Ok ... I've been to specsavers!

Go to the individual contacts list.

Choose your contact.

Open the menu bar drop down list. (top right)

Choose 'set ringtone'. (this will open the ringtone list)

Choose the desired ringtone.

It can also be done with group contacts.

Google is still your friend!

I have two sim cards and have set up each one with its own ring tone

Pardon a rube (and offtopic) question, but can you have both SIMs active at the same time?  Meaning you can have a work and a personal phone number both active on the same cell at the same time?

Yes, that's the way it works. When you call out, the phone asks you which SIM card you want to use. You can also use one card as default.
