Direct flights from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there are any direct non-stop flights from Chiang Mai Airport to Chiang Rai airport?

Kan Airlines flew there from 27 March - 29 October.  Starting today and through 25 March 2017, that route has been eliminated.  Depending upon when you wish to travel, you might call to ask if they will be resuming that route at the end of March.

Hi Connda,

do you have a special reason why you wanna fly just 200 km ?

If some medical reason or so i think you better try to rent a comfortable limo who will drive you there.

Thanks much!

If KanAir resumes flight to Chiang Rai ask them what aircraft they will be using as it might be their Cessna 208B  a twelve seater which is perfectly fine but it may not be what you are expecting. You can see it on their website under "FLEET" or here

I just flew KKC-CNX and back on KanAIr in an ATR72 which was a nice ride.

Why not take Kan Air to Mae Hong Son, and then a relatively short bus trip to Chiang Rai?

Regards,

Given that Thailand "enjoys" the Second Worst record in THE WORLD for Road Deaths and having both flown and driven between the two places, I understand PERFECTLY why Flying would be the preferred mode of transport.

My geographical knowledge seems at odds with yours.

Mae Hong Son to Chiang Rai, approximately 415 km.

With the quickest route via outskirts of Chiang Mai itself.

Perhaps taking over and redirecting the plane was a part of the cunning plan?

Like Torrens, I'm a bit puzzled by that suggestion.  Just a simple VIP bus trip from here (CM) to Chiangrai would be a whole lot faster and a whole lot cheaper.

Many moons ago, Andaman Air (I have no clue if that outfit is still in business but they don't fly up here anymore) flew from here to Chiangrai using a small Lear jet that held 6-8 passengers.  It was a very quick (like just less than 35 minutes) and fun ride.  Once, when the pilot was trying to dive in for a landing in Chiangrai due to thunderstorms on both sides of Chiangrai, we felt as if we were on a strafing run and/or landing on an aircraft carrier.  I thought it was a blast but the Thais on board were ready to jump out.
