I guess everyone started reading and after a line or two you were trying to find a way this could be spun as a suicide, but couldnt.

I sure did and i had fun when i hit the suicide line, that was some amazing Hollywood plot twist  moment.

If he was right-handed and did commit suicide then the left ear to throat laceration as well as multiple pools of blood makes sense. If someone is intent on doing it, he/she will find a way. Hard to deny that Thailand is a magnet for suicidal types.

Plus they can't wait to imply the Thai police are incompetent.

Yeah I have been guilty of a redundant post too. I have to say that any cop who would say that a man with his throat cut would most likely be suicide is a complete blithering idiot. When the jugular is cut you are out cold immediately, no struggle if done from behind. That does not mean it isn't suicide but murder seems at least as likely.  If I were the cop or coroner I would surely wait for tests of evidence before shooting my mouth about it. Yes they are incompetent, they always make it known what they think and then have to lose face if they are wrong, that could lead to a lot of bad ends don't you think? Like the mass murderer they arrested, looks like they may have planted evidence for conviction before they caught the right guy.

And also shows they couldn't be bothered to read the article before posting. His friend offers a possible reason for suicide.

Yeah and did you know that most killers usually come back to the scene of the crime. His friend would be a suspect in the west, maybe cleared quickly but he would be questioned. especially when he is telling the cops that he probably committed suicide.

Quite possible if he was highly depressed . I know a guy who killed himself by the same means.

He had mental health issues due to drugs and was around late 50s in age. He was feeling depressed and asked the local mental hospital to take him in for treatment. He was collected by a woman who had known him 20-30 years who was working as a hospital driver , he got in the back of her car and started talking to her and around 10 minutes into the journey he slashed his throat in the back of the car. Died very quick due to his blood spraying all over the car and the woman driving . Absolutely horrific way to die and even more for the poor woman !!

Can't think why someone would choose this most painful and slow way to end it all. Why not a handful of  sleeping pills and a bottle of fine whisky?

Because it's difficult to do. A lot of people end up with brain damage and not death making things far worse than they were. I have been on several opiate strength pain killers over a long period and being human I also got very drunk a few times and I mean drunk but still woke up in the morning and I wasn't suicidal

If you have not tried anti depressants once, i suggest you do. They are completely mindbogglingly horrible.

I was prescribed some and quit after my first dose, im not surprised some people hurt themselves badly after taking them or that other people fight so hard to tell you to f off when you tell them about a natural anti depressant that is just as potent as the poison they are taking.

It takes good training in forensic to do a proper job, on top of that, to investigate a case it takes both time and money. All of these are lacking in the BIB, so how on earth are they supposed to deal with complicated murder case if it was a murder or murder cum robbery case?

So it is nature to take the easy way out, does that makes sense? If you are not paid well and you need to run around putting yourself at risks because some of these murderers might do you in when they know you are after them, do you think you find the job worth doing?

Would you do the job ? Let's be honest you would have done the same thing the BIB doing now.

In my opinion, many posters have missed the point here.

The point is, whilst it very well may be suicide, because you die very quick when the carotid artery is severed, there simply will not be any "adequate" investigation, and why, because "there were no signs of robbery in the room."

This is typical of many "suicides" here.  Just too much paperwork involved and a possible bad image for the tourist industry here.

There will be no investigation into whether a salon, bar, business, property, house, farm, car, gold etc was recently bought for a Thai National.

Simply, no signs of robbery - must be suicide - case closed.  Just the way the tourism industry likes it, and also the way Thai's with murder on their mind like it.

If it's a suicide, that's acceptable, it happens, but it should be deemed so, only after an investigation, not just a precursory look around the room and minor property, such as wallet and phone.

There are just not enough resources to do a western style crime scene investigation. Do people here really expect forensic specialists to spend days gathering microscopic DNA to analyse and store in case it may one day be called on?

Ain't gonna happen!! For at least another 20 years!

If looks like suicide. Smells like suicide then that's what it is..

.

"foreign governments don't even 'bat an eye' - probably because most single men holidaying in Thailand ave viewed as "mongers" by their Foreign Office, therefore, not worthy of any political intervention, pressing for a proper investigation.

That depends. You have holidays for example to Disney land and I'm guessing not many top them selves there

Then you have a darker seedier holiday that involves sex with multiple partners, alcohol benders that can last the whole trip, easily available drugs, women that will take you for everything if they can and you have poor old johnny boom boom who was in a delicate state before even boarding the plane...

ok , I'm getting all the ironic remarks because they are stated too often but , and please take my question seriously , why would somebody commit suicide cutting himself from " his neck towards his left ear " ? not a forensic expert , just curious

There's a major artery in your neck just below your ears and cutting that would lead to you bleeding to death quite quickly without medical intervention.

Why somebody would choose to kill themselves in such a gruesome manner is a mystery though (assuming it was suicide).

The RTP CSI team,  moved quickly to secure the crime scene.  Using gloved hands they bagged the knife.  It is now being processed for fingerprints.  If there are no signs of weapon scrubbing and the only prints on it are from the deceased, a suicide verdict will follow.

Sadly, I doubt they will even properly examine the knife for its origins, fingerprints, blood from another person, or DNA from another person.

A dead farang just doesn't warrant that amount of respect here, unless their death damages the tourism industry.

If people on this forum don´t bother read replies and extra information, maybe it would be a good idea for those just not to post any comments then? Mostly those are ridiculous and totally out of context. Or then they are like suicide, suicide, maybe suicide. police name it suicede etc. Do You think anyone is interested opinions like that?
