Anyone tell me the most economical way to fly to the Philipines? I'm not sure if I will be there one week or one month.

Should I book a return flight for one week, then if I want to stay longer, go to the airport or travel agency and change the booking

for the return flight.

Or should I turn up at the airport and buy a single flight, then do the same in the Philipines for the flight back to Bangkok?

turning up at the airport and buy a ticket ensures you will pay a very very high fare, particularly to the PH as tickets to PH are usually expensive anyway. If you fly a legacy carrier, such as Thai or Philippine Airlines, then return-tickets are much cheaper than booking two one-way tickets. If booking via Budget carriers such as Cebu Pacific, you can buy one-way tickets easily, but keep in mind that in many cases, "Budget" carriers are even more expensive than legacy carriers.

Recently, Malaysia Airlines hat a Promo to the PH for 5.200 return - that was as cheap as a ONE-WAY on Cebu Pacific, considering all the extra fees budget carriers charge you (luggage, seat, food, Credit card fee, "convenience"-fee a.s.o)

And yes, you DEFINITELY need an onward ticket, otherwise the airline will most likely not board your flight. The Philippines are very strict regarding this requirement

Just played around with booking Bangkok to Manila.

Return, 22.11. to 30.11.

Many return flights below 9000 Baht.

And surprising: one way from Manila to Bangkok below 5000.

Not sure whether rebooking the return flight or throwing away and buying a new one way will be cheaper.

As you know the cheap flights have either no rebooking options or at cost that does not make sense.
