Hi,

We've been stuck on True Online ADSL 13/1mbps for 599THB/m for a few years for which we also have to pay monthly 107THB/m TOT phone line rent.  Now on True web site offers Superfibre 20/7mbps for 599THB/m. We are on a higher floor of a condo but the condo office is handing out True flyers offering free installation it seems, so logistics seem to allow for it.

Two questions, is it reliable service as our ADSL has proved to be - always steady 13mbps without fail? Will it remove need to pay TOT monthly fee as we don't need the phone line?

Appreciate any feedback from experienced True ADSL and Superfibre users.

Fibre should always be more reliable than xDSL as fibre is an intrinsically reliable technology. It doesnt use the phone line at all and so there should be no need for you to continue paying TOT for the line.

The actual international bandwidth you get will depend on how the ISP throttles the international connection.

Just be certain that you are getting Fibre To The Home and not some sort of FTTB/VDSL package, though even that would avoid you having to pay for TOT for the phone line.

It could very well be provided by DOCSIS (cable).    Is your building outfitted for cable TV?   Like as in True cable TV?  If so, the 20/7 speed could be provided by DOCSIS (cable internet) which means you could also sign up for a much higher speed also as this would indicate True has updated the True cable TV for your building to include True DOCSIS internet also...it runs on the same cable line as the TV.  See this ad:

Or if your condo does not have True cable TV then it could very well be True 20/7 VDSL as shown in this ad.

True seems to use the SuperSpeed Fiber name now for fiber optics, DOCSIS/cable, or its VDSL high speed plans.  Technically they are not lying as all of them hook into True's fiber optics backbone somewhere upstream of your local connection.  They just like getting the buzz word "fiber" into the name as that implies fast speed to most everyone.

OP, to be clear just what True is offering you, you need to ask them whether they're going to give you a cable modem/router OR a fiber modem/router as part of your service package.

For that speed and price, in all likelihood, True is likely offering you a cable internet connection that can run on the same coaxial cabling as a traditional cable TV distribution.  True calls their broadband internet "fiber" these days, but AFAIK, it rarely ends up being FTTH (Fiber to the Home).  And instead, usually ends up as a cable modem or a VDSL connection into condos.

Thanks guys for feedback. I asked True Online using their web interface, Got replay as below, so I expect nothing will happen. Will have to get the wife on phone next to them to push for answers, as True have left promotional flyers in condo reception for high speed fibre!

>Regarding your inquiry about True Super Speed Fibre 20Mbps/7 Mbps, we have coordinated with Sales Department in order to check the service coverage. If there is any further update, you will be contacted.

' for which we also have to pay monthly 107THB/m TOT phone line rent.'

Why ?  not had to pay this for years...  but do have to remember to go into a True shop and re-sign to cancel every 6 months otherwise  month 7 along comes a 107THB/m TOT phone line rent bill..

So say True Fibre will have a service in my Village B4 Christmas  so in a month ?  AIS Fibre has arrived last month, but been with True for 13 years and no problems [if ever then sorted out within a few hours]  not sure what AIS Fibre is like. or what there Service is like ?
