The Department of Special Investigation will immediately arrest Phra Dhammachayo if he fails to turn himself in this coming Wednesday to acknowledge the charges of conspiracy in money laundering and accepting ill-gotten gains.

DSI director-general Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang said Monday that the department would give the embattled abbot of Wat Dhammakaya until November 30 to surrender failing that it would make the arrest.

He said that the DSI would discuss with the National Police Office and the Office of the Attorney-General about the plan to make the arrest. He also indicated that an old arrest plan which was hatched by Pol Gen Srivara Rangsipramnakul, the deputy national police chief, might be dusted off and implemented.

This is what was needed for his previous arrest.

The controversial Thai Buddhist abbot accused of fraud, embezzlement and heresy submitted to police questioning on August 25 after ending a two-day standoff at his sect's headquarters.

The abbot of the Dhammakaya Temple is questioned on August 25

Live television showed Phra Dhammachayo, head of the Dhammakaya sect, arriving at the Bovorn Nives temple in Bangkok's old town after agreeing to leave his sprawling headquarters on the outskirts of the city that supporters had barricaded since a warrant was issued for his arrest on the night of August 23.

Some 300 anti-riot police and 100 policemen in plain clothes were deployed around the Bovorn Nives temple, which is also run by Dhammachayo's sect. The abbot's supporters had warned earlier they would resist any attempt to arrest him by force.

We're going to come get you this time....we're are really, really going to arrest you on this day....cross our heart and hope to die....this is going to happen....you can bet on it.....blah....blah....blah.

Come Thursday we'll make up a new excuse as to why we didn't arrest the abbot like we had a flat tire on the way to the temple.   Give us a few months to get that flat tire fix and we are going to be back.

ok first I want enforcement of law as do most people here, the problem with this is that other divisive groups will use this situation and turn it into an opportunity, it is to me very obvious that a lot of people lost huge sums of money that was stolen - thieved - miss- directed - laundered ................you can take your pick call it what you like, but one thing I am sure of, there is a tremendous amount of criminal dirt involved.

To stop this happening again (and this is a biggie) temples need to be financially regulated and transparent, IMO there are lots of Thais (in high places) that have used the temple system (hiding and moving huge amounts of money), we all know how corrupt Thailand is.......that is a fact.

There are people in high places that want the laundering system to remain exactly how it is, these are powerful people that need to move huge sums of money below the radar, some will argue that senior ranking police/army officers are up to their necks - and that is probably correct, whoever takes them on will need to be very special, what we are looking at is the root or very backbone of corruption in Thailand.........................how the huge sums are shifted hidden and transferred, only a very powerful brave man will take that on

One of the most funny thing is that the posting of bail is up for discussion again. That was something that should go away already last time he was supposed to be arrested.

So, now it´s just for him to surrender or get arrested, and after that he´s out again for another unlimited amount of years.

An immediate arrest if he fails to turn himself in ?

Will that be after a committee is formed to decide the next move then issues another press release, possibly with a deadline extension, and after those at the top have had their say which will be the usual ' not meddling and leaving to the relevant agencies ' ?

One of the junta's New Year gifts to the nation will probably be a continuation of this soap opera.

BANGKOK: -- JUSTICE MINISTER GENERAL Paiboon Koomchaya yesterday ordered the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to join police in arresting Pathum Thani-based Wat Dhammakaya abbot Phra Dhammachayo, saying the monk is not above the law.

Paiboon said a failure to execute an arrest warrant and take the abbot into custody would set a dangerous precedent and affect other cases in the justice system.

DSI chief Pol Colonel Paisit Wongmuang said the agency would wait to see if the monk surrenders tomorrow according to the police deadline. If that does not happen, he said the DSI could devise a new action plan with police and prosecutors in accordance with Paiboon’s instructions.

I think that all these months the police has been quietly tunneling it's way to the abbot's fortress, under the guise of the ubiquitous MRT line extensions everywhere.

Now they are poised directly under His Holiness' Bottom, waiting for the word of action. And when that comes, many muddy men will spew forth like demons from hell with a confused sect leader shouting mantras and waving amulets.

I could be wrong, though.

Place you bets on who serves jail time first. Will it be:

  1. Phra Dhammachayo
  2. The Red Bull heir
  3. Thaksin
  4. None of the above

They are just playing with the public about the Red Bull Heir He will never be brought to justice Too much money in the Family They are above the law  as far as they are concerned Just don't buy Red Bull products if you want to see justice  If enough do the same it may hurt them
