I'm not sure I feel comfortable taking this Cipro antibiotic anymore, I done some research on this antibiotic and I have found out it can be quite dangerous and can makes things worst, cause permanent nerve damage, tendon damage, cause or increase Tinnitus, its Ototoxic and very powerful antibiotic.... bearing in mind I'm already having a ton of bad luck as it is, I'm 25, I don't want more problems in my life and doctors never actually have found a bad bacteria, it was more of a 'at least we can say we tried this' approach.

the doctor who prescribed it was at a sexual health clinic, I don't think she's a urologist, she isn't my GP, I've booked an appointment with my GP to discuss this, just type Ciprofloxacin on YouTube and see the damage it can cause..

You seem to be "all over the place" as the saying goes.

I suggested you get a prostate massage and get the prostatic fluid tested to see what, if anything, is in there!! If nothing, then that's one less worry for you.........did you get that done??

If you didn't then I would suggest you don't waste other folks time by posting on here BECAUSE you are not helping yourself.

As for Cipro, yes it can have some undesirable effects but these are usually in the region of a few per 1000 cases when the drug underwent trials.

Plan a logical course of action and see it through; then another until all avenues are exhausted........you may find it is more between the ears than the legs!

thanks, I might try and see a Urologist about it yes, whether he will do the prostate massage I don't know, you get good doctors and you get bad ones...

this started after sex with a Pattaya bargirl so its very likely it could be bacterial, also around when it first started my semen was very yellow, but I was on a drug that made my urine orange at the time so thought a side effect from that, but the Urologist didn't think so and wanted to test my semen but we never got round to doing it.

Question: Did you use a condom when having sex ?

have you not heard of the NHS, I can't just walk in to see a Urologist and get that test, and no I'm not paying tons of money to do it private,  you told me to do that only 6 days ago, don't know what world you live in but in the real world most people can't get a urology appointment in the NHS in 6 days...

not for oral, but yes of course for vaginal, there maybe was a pop sound when putting on the condom for the first sex that night, but there wasn't a noticeable  hole as she looked before we started and the semen wasn't dripping out the condom when we finished but who know's.. I've had urine and urethra swab tests anyway, all clear, normal bacteria found in semen culture etc ..

Could you have picked up what you may have prior to sleeping with the Bar Girl in Thailand, some things lay dormant for years, if so you might have picked up whatever you have from a previous girl/s to the of the Bar Girl in Thailand, just a thought ?

Yes I have heard of the NHS and have made use of it a number of times and as I recall, one can walk into an STD clinic and get tested almost on the spot – – you don't need an appointment with a urologist.

You said in one of your recent posts that you had a prostate exam, so why wasn't the prostatic fluid investigated and cultured? All this should have been done months ago and very often you have to take the lead in these situations and ask what can and can't be done. I remember a very good doctor I had in NZ and he said something along the lines of, "you have your illness and you have to own it, not me, however I will work with you to try and make you well and I will also listen to what you have to say so that together we can discuss treatment options".

Probably one of the best doctors I've ever had in my life, rephrase that – – he is the best doctor I've ever had in my life.

So sometimes you have to push for things to happen.

Now I've read back through your posts and from what I can ascertain, you have been to GPs, A&E, had scans, MRIs and x-rays, semen culture, urethral swabs, prostate exam and a urine test and all have come back negative. Well that should have told you something.

However there is some hope for you on two fronts, and I'm proposing these things because I was once in a similar situation after breaking a part of my pelvis, tearing the stomach muscles and tendons as well as "springing" the central bone in the pelvis at the same time. However let's leave this in the background for the moment.

I did post somewhere that for years I suffered from prostatitis and all of the symptoms which you describe I felt at one time or another with this insidious disease.........the burning in the urethra, aching testicles, and ache in the perineum and sometimes in the flanks and upper legs and it would come and go in severity with no rhyme or reason apart from one thing.......even when I had sex, using a condom, just three or four days later I would experience the symptoms quite badly again.

My good doctor finally suggested that it was prostatitis and although no bacteria could be found, this isn't unusual. Then of course it could well have been nonbacterial prostatitis which gives exactly the same symptoms and no bacteria will ever be found.

Antibiotics in general are very poor at penetrating the prostate to cure an infection in it, so much so that a doctor in the Philippines specialises in a type of treatment whereby he injects antibiotics directly into the prostate (a very uncomfortable procedure I believe, however I did consider it because I was in that much pain) and even though this works in some cases, it doesn't work in all of them.

There are a few antibiotics which can help and ciprofloxacin is one of them, doxycycline is another and I did once see some research which suggested that roxithromycin also penetrates the prostate. Now one can argue that if the problem is not bacterial prostatitis, then why take antibiotics? Well there is a reason because a couple of those antibiotics also have anti-inflammatory aspects to them which seems to help. And, it is still not known for sure if there are bacteria deep in the prostate which are released when having sex for example, which then sets up the whole infection/inflammation cycle again!

So you can see the dilemma here if indeed you do have prostatitis – – irrespective of what version of it you have, at the moment there is no complete cure for it and it produces all of the symptoms which you have described, and which I put up with for decades. My saviour in that time was doxycycline, once a day for three months, and this calmed it down for at least a couple of months if not more, before I had to go on the same regime again, time after time for decades. I did try ciprofloxacin for three months and that gave me some four or five months relief, before the cycle started again.

So where is this going..........prostatitis seems highly likely to be something which you are suffering from. From my perspective, I eventually paid privately for the latest equipment to have a look around inside of the prostate and there were some "calcium" type deposits inside of it which the urologist said were probably due to infections in the past, and he thought these could be responsible for not only producing inflammation, but also setting up repeat infections, so he suggested a transurethral resection of the prostate, which I had, and that cured my prostatitis.

Now that's not something you as a young man should entertain as the antibiotic regime may help you a lot better than it did me and is definitely worth trying, however I personally would not go on to ciprofloxacin, but would not mind the doxycycline regimen, because it gave me no side-effects whatsoever.

Now back to my pelvis and it's a problem which I thought was the main problem, however it turns out it wasn't, but I did find that some pelvic stretching exercises helped relieve a bit of the pain, and I learnt how to relax the muscles in that area by focusing on them and doing something akin to transcendental meditation (don't laugh because it has done for years whenever I got stressed).

So what I'm saying is if you have explored every avenue, and it seems like you have, then my last action would be the prostatic fluid examination which I mentioned and if it is positive then you will need an antibiotic and you could well be on it for many years, and even if it isn't positive, if prostatitis is determined to be the problem, then the same regimen could well exist – – and it's not the end of the world.

Finally, as many other good posters have suggested, and Sheryl has spoken about this on a few occasions, the more you think about it or focus on it, the worse it becomes in that for me was very true because at one time it ruled and ruined my life. It became time and life consuming because there was always pain somewhere in the regions where we menfolk consider extremely important (if you see what I mean) and it rarely seemed to subside – – my saviours were doxycycline and TM, before finally at the age of about 58 having a TURP.

Try and think logically, follow every avenue to its final conclusion and don't jump around. Take a plan of action and see it through to fruition and it then becomes a process of elimination.

I'm leaning towards this all being caused by my pelvis being twisted, and my sacrum being rotated, I also have 2 compressed disks in my lower back which is a sign of a sacrum/pelvic issue, every chiropractor has looked at my x rays and said I have a issue with my sacrum, then recently an x ray with measurement showed my pelvis was misaligned, I have 1 leg shorter than the other, sometimes I wake up with left buttock pain, which is interested as thats the side with my shorter left leg.

also I didn't mention the fact that the chiropractor I saw was able to flare up my irritation/discomfort after an adjustment and then decrease the flare up the next day with another adjustment. my Prostate doesn't feel like its in pain, no pain when ejaculation, no pain when I get my prostate checked (finger exam), my main discomfort or irritation is around the pubic area.

like you said, I've had all the urine, urethral tests and semen culture and nothings come up. I will still ask about getting my prostate fluid tested to be on the safe side, but I think this is all coming from my lower back, sacrum and Pelvis.

Do you search for your ailments on Google?

I don't understand if all the tests have come back negative, why are you still searching for more ailments.  If i was you, I would get on with my life,  Go out and take a walk, go to the cinema, go to the pub.  Do anything other than just sit worrying.  You are young, think of older people who have real diseases and can't be cured.  You have about 60 years of life to still live.  Are you going to worry everytime you get a pain.  Go see a therapist.

plus many of us old guys have had knee, back, ankle problems that we thought we would have for life but they got better... I do have shoulder issues Im working through from a bike crash but prior to that day I was so happy with how my body was firing  on all cylinders at 56.  I swear at 45 I thought my knees or ankles were going.
