BMA told to consider unsafe bicycle lanes for demolition

BANGKOK: -- Bangkok bicycle lanes on narrow roads or those rarely used will be considered for possible demolition, officials said yesterday.

 

The move followed a meeting of city executives yesterday, said Pol Lt-General Amnuay Nimmano, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) deputy governor.

Amnuay also said that he would propose the cancellation of the Bus Rapid Transit project so the city would not have to renew its contract for Bt2 billion per year.

The idea was probably born during monsoon season. Unfortunately someone misunderstood the meaning of the words "planning" and "aquaplaning".

But the dear great leader commanded more bike lanes just the other day. This must be fake news dished up by the red shirts for political gain or is it an international news agency not respecting the country.

Unsafe bike lanes and a loss making Bus Rapid Transit. Who'd have seen that coming?

Mania's have a short shelf life here. Here today gone tomorrow. I thought they just put these into use a couple years ago.
