Got to love the parasail owners response.

They also questioned the business owner, Waewta Srithongkul, who immediately denied any equipment failure and rejected any responsibility based on that.

“Ms Waewta insisted that her staff had tied the rope firmly and that she had no idea how the tourist fell,”

Its never their fault, i remember tourists complaining  about getting tangled in their tow ropes when they leave and return to the beach

Their response was it was the tourists fault for not getting out of the way

Its a tourist beach and jet skis and para sailing boats should be totally banned so it is safe for tourists to swim

It will never happen as all long term residents know

Thank goodness she was only 5 meter up and over water.

Raise your hand if you think she'll get her 1000 Baht back.

With 10's of million of tourist pouring into Thailand every year and may engaging

in some kind of outdoor activities  provided  by Thai people with no training or

knowledge in the activities they're charging money for, it's about time the Thai

government will come up with a scheme to protect those tourist by forcing the

provider of those activates to have a mandatory comprehensive insurance to

cover mishaps and accidents no questions asked.....

You mean like the compulsory third party insurance on bikes and vehicles, 150,000baht maximum payout last time i checked

If you have private vehicle insurance the pay out is between 1 and 2m baht per person third party cover, which is much better but you pay for it not the government

Technically she was correct- the rope and the hooks to the chute were apparently ok- it was the HARNESS that the tourist slipped out of- no comment about that.  Parachute harnesses need to be cinched  to the point of discomfort to be effective and this is likely where the problem lies- stilll the responsibility of the so-called staff to check it though.

Given the amount of times the harnesses are used and immersed in water you wouldn't catch me dead in one. (literally)

That may be right for injury but not for loss of life which is their maximum pay out
