BANGKOK: -- THE DEPARTMENT of Special Investigation (DSI) yesterday filed criminal complaints against Ongart Thamnita, the spokesman for followers of Dhammakaya Temple, and other temple adherents.

The complaint was filed at the Crime Suppression Division under Section 116 of the Criminal Code, which bans public statements that incite disaffection in a manner likely to cause a disturbance. The offence is punishable by a jail term not exceeding seven years.

DSI deputy spokesman Pol Major Woranan Srilam filed the complaint, citing Ongart’s ninepoint announcement on Sunday that allegedly included accusations against authorities.

The temple’s founder and former abbot, Phra Dhammachayo, faces arrest warrants relating to the Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative (KCUC) embezzlement case and a separate allegation of land encroachment.

Seems sensible enough, and is something I can only applaud IF they bring this fool to task, oppose bail, and push for harsh sentencing. But also I don't think dereliction of duty action is needed against some of the people tasked with bringing this corrupt pseudo monk in to face the very serious, legitimate criminal charges he should have responded to long ago.

What a complete $#it$#ow

Where is the spokesman and the other adherents against whom the criminal complaints have been filed ?

If they are all in the temple it will just be another part of the never Ending Story as it's unlikely anything will be done to arrest them as well as their Boss.

Filing a complaint is 1 thing carrying it out is another.

The DSI have not yet done anything about arresting Dhammachayo, so not much chance of them doing much else but talk.

The can use those complaint's papers to wallpaper their offices, that the only

use they will get out of it if they can't apprehend the culprits.....

For Goodness' sake, enough of all this nonsense. Just back off now - TOTALLY - forget the whole thing - wear your egg proudly on your face, 'Authorities', and implicitly admit that a bunch of monks and their supporters are too tough for you to handle.

This whole never-ending, self-mutating farce is - as others have said - not in the least bit funny now. It is  totally and utterly pathetic.

Looks like an extra large room will be needed to store all the case papers etc for this case and how long will they be allowed to remain there fading as they won't be needed again ?

What chance of a ' sudden explained fire ' or someone accidentally tripping and dropping the lot into a shredder ?

"likely to cause a disturbance"?

I love these "laws" which are so deliberately broad, vague and all-encompassing so as to be used against pretty much anyone.

Somchai complained about the weather, charge him with 116.

Just a quick diversion to not doing his job to assure due process of law - arrest the abbot.

NACC should charge DSI with willful negligence with its failure to execute the court's orders for search and arrest of the abbot.

Agree, what none of us know is what very powerful and possibly very ruthless and dangerous people are in the background in this case, possibly even threatening the DSI, the police etc.

Has the general actually activated 44 in this case?
