"Different point, I can't find any details of the school and location. Can someone please share."

"... the assistant teacher of Sang-am Wittaya school, Ms Chalida Paichitprapaporn, " (Bangkok)

Please do not name her "Teacher" , she is not a teacher. She must have some mental problem either.

Anyhow, I have a bet again, this woman will work as a teacher if she wants so in a short time.

Face is still bright nothing has happened, just a student were frightened.... 99 times

I hope the kid recovers and it does not effect him in the future,

the teacher also needs to be punished,I think a jail term would be

in order, and never to be able to teach again, just one question,

who counted the 99 strikes?

Mate of mine got fired from a school because he told a Thai teacher that she was teaching incorrect English.

She should have been instantly dismissed and then jailed for child abuse. Also name and shame.

Monetary payments are not a deterrent!

Exactly my point.

Off-topic posts about the US legal system have been removed from this thread.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

When I first read this article. I assumed (unfairly) that the perpetrator had to be a sadistic man, and was amazed to learn that a woman was capable of doing this.  I assume she is single at present but in any case it might be a good idea to have her sterilized to make sure that she does not have the opportunity to do this sort of thing to her own kids.  As a previous poster said, this was not an instant reaction to an event but has to come into the category of "premeditated" as it went on for so long.  In no way can 99 strokes with a stick be regarded as anything but a savage assault, for which she must be duly punished by loss of her job, a prison term and adequate compensation to the family.  However, with her family connections, I think it highly unlikely that she will ever see the inside of a jail.  Without the help of social media this case would have disappeared without trace, as I feel sure many have before it.

Agree with most of that except the 10 million dollar lawsuit..... Why should everyone have to pay for one person's madness, which is also open to abuse.

Thailand may have it's faults but so does the USA with it's sue culture.

i agree.  i was just reporting what would happen.

I didn't, the press article did.You say she's not a teacher then proceed to say...".. this woman will work as a teacher....."

Thailand has a 'sue' culture. It's called pseudo defamation.

Everyone needs to shame the school in question, that will get some action ... let all the media outlets in on the story, copy the BBC & ABC ...  It's just ridiculous to say you'll investigate the matter.. how much proof does that d"*khead need.

The SOP she shaves her head, gives the hai Y, all is forgiven...sad

Relatives are planning retribution and thousand P up  her rectum.

Being unable to find the full story as to what drove this woman to such a vile act of violence against a child, I'll refrain from making an idiotic Thai Visa 'hang her high' style statement...until all the facts are out...

Any update on what happened to this guy?

It's good to see a mom who is prepared to stand up for her child and not be bribed to go quietly and not make a fuss.

Far too many Thais are worried about standing out and acquiescing to those who believe they are socially superior by way of occupation and/or upbringing and believe they should be allowed to get away with this sort of disgusting behaviour.

In the UK, she would have been suspended by the school  immediately and then charged with assault.  AT court, she would almost certainly have some sort of custodial sentence and never allowed to teach again or even have contact with children.

I would suggest sending to the international press that would really put the cat amongst the pigeons, and probably throw Mr PM into a state of frenzy

You have access to a computer, so go ahead and send it to the international press. What's stopping you.

Good to see the child mother insisting on action and not accepting the bribe to be quiet.  Hopefully, I live in hope most of the time, others will follow the lead and report similar events in future so that these criminals in disguise are properly dealt with.

I think the mother of the child comes from a rich family, most Thai families could not afford a lawyer and follow up on a case like this. Yes she did well but unfortunately most parents would just accept a bribe and nothing more would happen .

I thought that I read here the other day that the mother was paid 50,000 to keep her mouth shut, if true, she deserves to go to jail with the teacher.

She turned it down. Wants a prosecution

incredible and VERY SICK that they have to beg for the teacher to be ONLY dismissed.

in the USA this teacher would be in jail facing a long list of charges.

and a 10 million USD lawsuit would be filed against the school district and the teacher.

Thailand really has a long way to go.

Exactly. I was under the assumption that there is a UN resolution against this sort of violence to children and that Thailand is one of the signatories to it.

I know ratcatcher, I tried to send a message to everyone, especially to the writer of this article.
