Thai economy in Nov expands

BANGKOK, 29 December 2016 (NNT) - The Fiscal Policy Office has reported that the Thai economy has expanding continuously following an export increase and higher confidence of the production sector.

Director of the Fiscal Policy Office Krisada Chinavicharana said on Wednesday that the overall Thai economy in November improved mainly due to a 10.2% increase in exports and better signs from private consumption. Registration of new motorcycles expanded for eight consecutive months and VAT collection increased by 2.1% a year.

Government spending increased continuously with a 89.8% increase in disbursement of investment budget in November.

Confidence of the production sector increased for three consecutive months at 87%—the highest level in 20 months—due to the government’s stimulus measures.

The overall Thai economy was still strong and could deal with the volatility of the global economy, said the director.
