Every time i read such news i must laugh. Actually they say, if you are a criminal or fugitive, be careful till the 15th January. After that date, you'll be safe.

What does this actually mean? They going to be demanding to see all foreigners passports walking around the city? They going to look in sewer pipes for fugutives? All these campaigns just make the government look more stupid and inept than it already does, which is quite a bit.

Is this their version of an Easter egg hunt.

Crackdown!! What is the percentage of immigrants committing crimes opposed to the rest of the population?  And, what about road death~it seems to be unimportant.

It may possibly mean that they start chasing up arrest requests from foreign nations that have been sitting in the in-tray for months. I am just giving them the benefit of doubt here. It probably means nothing at all, just a press release full of hot air released every year around the peak of the tourist season.

A very good question, that I'm sure will remain "unanswered".

It means they new years kitty needs to be filled, and xenophobia is back in full force five.

Immigration is a branch of the Royal Thai Police. This just BS so they can get on a stage and get their picture in the newspaper. Same reason they make suspects "reenact" crimes and have victims point fingers. Just makes the Thai police (all branches) look even stupider and more inept than they already are.

Sorry this always make me laugh. Immigration say they look for overstayer, criminals and others.

Then all you say is what, why, rubish, more tea money, can some bodies explain.

Then when headline changes to 5 overstayers arrested in immigration operation in Pattaya then suddenly it's good ban them bad guys ect ect ect.

Sorry can't have a ban them thread with ought the crackdown thread.

Immigration hunting for fugitives and criminals...?...shouldn't that be a police job.....?

Technically "Yes", but the Police are focusing at present on traffic violations, example, stopping motor-biker riders that are "helmetless".
