BANGKOK: -- Municipal trash collectors called police after they found the dead body of a new born baby boy in a pile of rubbish behind the Udom Suk market in Sukhumvit Road Soi 103.

Medics thought that the boy, that had gone to full term, had been dead between 12 and 24 hours when it was found yesterday morning, reports Daily News.

The boy had a wound to its face and was contained in a white plastic bag. He was wrapped in a pink towel. There were some bloodstained scissors with the body.

Police enquired in the neighborhood but no one knew anything about the infant. They are studying CCTV in the area to try and find out who left him there.

...beyond comprehension......

Exposing unwanted infants has a long tradition in human societies and was practised among the ancient Greeks and Romans, for example (see the Infanticide entry in Wikipedia). While I don't regard abortion as infanticide you have to question the gender imbalance in both China and India today

Very sad to read that a new born has died and been so easily discarded, literally with the rubbish,

However, your comment is inappropriate. In Christian countries how many % of the population are practicing Christians who live by Christian tenets? Even in Moslem countries many commit criminal acts and do things contrary to Islam.

Not everyone here is a Buddhist either.

disgusting treatment of a baby.

Poor child.

evil adults.

we also sometimes get this in our home countries too.

i never understand why they cant just leave the baby on a temple entrance instead. - at least the baby get s a chance at life!

there are temples EVERYWHERE in Thailand.

perhaps the baby was born at home (still born). but then it would be normal to bring the baby to a hospital or temple.

i feel so sad for this innocent baby that did nothing wrong to anyone.
