best investment for your thai partner to earn an income

my partner & me have been thinking of some smallish investment for her to make a living while im back home also trying to make a living ,       i cant live my life sending money to her,  she must stand on her own two feet.         we have though about a few things,  she has 6 rai of land in isaan,       we have thought about buying some pigs but i have doubts about this bringing in enough profit.      mushroom farming maybe ?              she also has other family in bangkok  and we recently put 100.000 baht into a car body repair business of which her brother in law runs and from the 100.000 she makes approx 15-20k  a month ,         her brother in law has contract with a big insurance company for cars which have been smashed and need repair and theres plenty of stock allways,        he actually wants more money to expand and get a bigger premises near the major road and get more staff,      so we are happy with that investment for now as long as her sis and brother in  law dont run off into the sunset .           shes also hinted at learning to run a restaurant selling isaan & thai food and seafood in bkk ( samut sakon )   she is willing to go to learn and there is a lady who will teach her for a small fee .       she has also hinted at buying a decent sized car and her running taxi service from airport to pattaya ,   she has a friend in pattaya who sells the tickets at 12000 baht each way and this friend tells her she can make a decent salary if she went this  route.    though initial outlay for a decent LPG saloon would be around 500k  easy ?             i think even a kebab stand in a busy nightlife soi would makle decent money for thai standards , make kebab for around what 20 baht and sell for 60 baht,  sell 50 kebabs per night .....maybe

failing that,  a beer bar in pattaya maybe ?       im kiddin of course

would any like to offer advice ?    any ideas of what you would do .     she can live in bkk  with family  / isaan  with mum /  pattaya since i have a condo there so she lives free .

advice most welcome ,  thankyou in advance

If she is making 15-20K from the auto body business the problem is solved already. If she wants the car let her use her land as collateral on a loan.

If she has a 20K a month coming in there is really no need to do anything more for her as she has places to live for free. she could buy her own kebab cart. The taxi idea sounds like a disaster waiting to happen given the news out of that industry lately. People are begging for business to the airport it is very competitive.

If the auto body business is working maybe do that but i would want 10,000 a month back until I am paid off.

I don't mean this in a bad way at all but why not just let her go back to selling her body until she can buy her own car?

That body shop is doubling the investment in a year ... that is good going....

As said that sort of income has already solved the problem. I think that we all suggest she saves and invests her money in something ... you save yours for a 'Rainy Day' ..... else the 'pumping' could get expensive 'Jack'...

Invest in the car repair business if it's doing well (get her involved in the running of it?), also keeping her out of Pattaya and its allure. Doing taxi run might pee someone off, big outlay and pretty dangerous.

I would suggest leave her out of running the auto body business if it is doing well. Unless of course she is knowledgable about that particular business. If it works don't fix it.

is the 100k in the bodyshop a loan or investment ?... if an investment and being actual partners, with a 15-20k return , your not going to get better than that ??... obviously,if the brother in law is doing all the graft, hes  going to get tired of this arrangement ?

taxi business is a no go if she doesn't drive herself... plus you have deprecation of the car....

if your thinking of getting your mrs to sell kebabs on a sidcar... maybe time to rethink your thinking :wai:

100,000 bht investment brings 15,000 - 20,000 a month nice try but try pulling the other one.

PJ get a cha phayom franchise and have her run it. You pick the spot so if it goes tits up its your fault.

Move her back to Issan. If shop 1 does well move onto a shop 2. Or open one of them 20 baht shops they do good trade stock don't perish. Cha phayom is low investment I reckon less than baht 150k including 6/12 month lease and all set up/franchise stocks. Good footfall allows you to push other items in shop. (They all do it round here) these 20 baht shops seem popular too and they look like franchises or maybe a large number of stores and same co. Managing.

Cha phayom - ok area in Issan = 125 drinks a day = 4000 Est TO a day.

She cracks number 1 go for a 2nd shop.

Kind of a business in a box. 100k set up for a flourishing business in the motor trade. Sounds to good to be true. Your one lucky lad you sure your not being taken for a ride. Sounds a bit family this story but I hope I'm wrong.

So why get her involved in running a business that already works? One time Coca Cola played around with a winning recipe just for kicks and launched new coke for no apparent reason. I don't think it is the greatest idea to put somebody in charge of a business just for the sake of doing so.

There is a guy in Bangkok to does museum quality restorations on some very rare cars.  He has more business than he knows what to do with.  Automotive is a sweet spot for Thailand.  If she can apply herself there, great.  Education is the best investment and women pick up languages quickly.  Indonesia will be  the second largest economy in Asia and they have cars there too.

You're maybe right about the car business, but what's the connection to Indonesia? Besides, Indonesia is the biggest economy of SE-Asia, but as of Asia, far behind China, Japan and India.

Not sure I'd call 500,000Bt. a big outlay. That's what one would pay for the average half decent family car.....without even "working" it.

Another guy who has to rescue his TGF...pretty simple really....tell her to get a job.

She was doing fine before you and she will be doing better after your gone, your deluding yourself if you think that it couldnt go belle up at any moment and your not even living in the country full time, get smart and choose women who already have a job or career thats one less issue you have to deal with.

The fact that she is Geting 20000 a month from the car thing, and you are still sending her money and she want you to invest in a car for a taxi service? says everything. Sorry mate please don't invest anything.

Yesterday morning I made just over 11,000 baht in 6 minutes trading a Thai derivative warrant.  My total investment amount  at risk was just 50,000 baht.  Trading warrants is not rocket science and you can make good profits if the market is going up or down.  My suggestion is that you open a online trading account for your girl and put a small amount of capital into it.  She can play with that and then as she learns and proves she can trade successfully you can then add a little more trading capital to her account.  Because warrants are leveraged she would only need a total bankroll of around 10,000 baht to successfully skim trade 3-500 baht per day in profits.  And that amount is equivalent to the average Thai daily wage (and above average if you are up in Nakon Nowhere).

You can also retain the details of her username and password to the trading account so you can log in while you are offshore to keep and eye on how she is going.
