....death penalty over money.....

....but small fine/sentence when you murder someone or are a danger for society...

I guess it is just a difference on priorities :bah:

Death  penalty in Thailand? A Buddhist country?

That has never bothered them to enforce it.

Used to be a shooting squad, now lethal injection. Are they hiring non-Buddhists to do the job like they do when they need to cull monkeys in temples? don't know.

Thailand has the death penalty virtually every day -- every time someone boards one of the many unsafe minivans and buses on the country's roads and ends up in the morgue instead of their destination.  And no one among the locals seems particularly bothered enough about it to do anything to stop it.

So, I'd say aversion to killing doesn't seem to be a particularly strong trait here.

This is an excellent plan, if your aim is to make your country look like a nuttier banana republic. I am sure the UN will be very supportive of this.

Agreed...but would make the country look like a NUTTIER Banana Republic! :vampire:

Although I do support the death penalty  this is absurd Lets say someone does steal the prescribed  amount to qualify for the death penalty The leaves for the west

Do you really think they will extradite that individual if he is facing the death penalty for corruption.

It will never happen

This is just a bad idea and to be truthful will not deter anyone

Because in civilised countries it is illegal to deport someone who faces torture or death. Guess which country doesn't have an exchange agreement with Europe or UK [we're almost out]?!

There's only one so called civilised country that still has the death penalty. Yep! You guessed it - Trumpland [a bit like Camberwick Green or Trumpton for you older people]. Hugh, Pew, Barney McGreen, Cuthbert, Dribble and Grub. Hahaha. Only in America!

Won't matter since nobody is ever convicted of graft anyway.

I've been here for 13 years and I cannot remember reading a single news article about someone actually being convicted of graft. I've read a few articles about someone being arrested for it and preparation for trials but never a single conviction that I can recall.

NOw they use lethal injection? They haven't executed anyone since 2002 even though there are plenty who should have been since then.

I did hear a while back

That this does not apply to Military Members

Different rules apply  I can not see why

They all have to accountable for their actions

Look what happened in Myanmar

You would have thought they would have learned from them
