Meechai says still possible for election to take place this year
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Chief charter drafter Meechai Ruchupan Monday said he has assessed and believes it is possible for the next general election to be held late this year or early next year.

Though Meechai said the road map depends on coup maker chief and Prime Minister Prayut Chanocha’s, he believed the revision of the organic laws would not take so long that it substantially hold off an election to mid year next year.

.....don't fall for the old Lek and Noi number......!

If they are trying to confuse us with daily deluge of election news so we ultimately give up, I think they succeed. :saai:

BANGKOK: -- CHIEF CHARTER drafter Meechai Ruchupan yesterday said it was still plausible that a national election could be held late this year or early next year.

Although Meechai said the government’s “road map” leading to the election was ultimately a matter for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who heads the ruling junta, he believed that any revision of the draft constitution’s organic laws would not take long and the election should not be put off until mid-next year.

Authorities have raised the possibility that the election promised for this year might be delayed, citing complications with relevant legislation and possible revisions to the charter’s organic laws.

Late, early, Mid....makes it sound like the year is 3 Months long. The real difference between early and Mid could be as much as 6 months and then why not...let's juat make it 12months.

Anyway, seems like everybody is trying to stave off mass protests (which are coming-as sure as Thai coups happen so do Thai protests).

The Junta basically has another 9 months...after that there will be no more "respectful" peace and the people will start realising who their leader really is.

No, it's not. :coffee1:

Possible perhaps.
Probable no.

Maybe doable. When it comes to limiting rights and liberties of Thai people, this regime moves with lightening speed.

Meechai and his CDC just spend a couple days with Prayut and his DPM Prawit, write out all the necessary organic laws and Prayut uses Article 44 to enact all of them. The NLA is just a rubberstamp assembly anyways.

Albeit some of the laws will have blanks on specifics with "TBD" inserted.
