BANGKOK, 16 January 2017 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has encouraged the nation’s teachers to take pride in their profession as they are guides towards the future for the Kingdom’s youth.

Chairing a Teacher’s Day event this morning, Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha lauded two of his teachers from the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Maj Gen Srisamorn Tasubutr, his English teacher, and Maj Gen Orapin Petchploy, his European and East Asian History teacher, expressing to them his deepest gratitude.

The premier then handed out awards to 6 individuals recognized for their contributions to the nation’s education before remarking that teachers are like an additional parent to any child as they lead, guide and foster children for the future. He pointed out that the important role teachers play makes it crucial that they are ready to sacrifice and for them to adhere to a strict code of morality.

The Teachers Council of Thailand has invited members of the public to send in their cherished educational memories at www.facebook.com/khuruday.

Interesting ...

Apparently this was posted 17 hours ago, and so far, not a single comment, even though I know for a fact that a lot of TVF members are active or retired teachers.

That silence is deafening.

He also congratulated for the "great handling" on one of the bloodiest (regarding road carnage) New Years weekends in Thai- history! Go figure, teachers!

I notice there is a preponderance of Asian countries up there in the top 10. With the exception of Thailand which seems closer to the wooden spoon than the top ten.

Usually you take pride on things you're good at. I guess it's not a requirement here.

They seem to be good at beating the crap out of children, perhaps that's what he meant.
