BERLIN (Reuters) - A senior member of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) said on Wednesday that media had misrepresented comments he made about Berlin's Holocaust memorial and the need to rewrite history books to focus more on German victims.

GAO, Mali (Reuters) - Al Qaeda's North African affiliate said a suicide bomb attack on a military camp in northern Mali that killed up to 60 people and wounded more than 100 others on Wednesday was punishment for groups there cooperating with France.

Phuket elephants DNA tested to curtail trafficking

PHUKET: -- Officials from the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department (DNP) yesterday took DNA samples from 67 elephants, including those that perform at the popular Phuket FantaSea tourist attraction in Kamala, as part of a drive to crackdown on elephants trafficked onto the island.

UNFPA: 4.25 million Burmese live abroad, mostly in Thailand and Malaysia

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has estimated about 4.25 million people born in Myanmar now live abroad, most of them in Thailand and Malaysia, based on the 2014 census and projected immigration rates from censuses since 1983, according to The Irrawaddy Online report on Wednesday.

PHUKET: -- A Czech Interpol fugitive, arrested on Tuesday for allegedly spreading HIV in both Thailand and his home country, has been fined 1,000 baht (approx US$ 35.00) by a Phuket Court for overstaying his visa by close to a year and a half.
