PATTAYA: -- The family of a British expat who was shot dead in Pattaya on Tuesday say they have no idea why he was targeted.

Tony Kenway, 39, was murdered at around 10:20am as he sat inside his red Porsche Cayenne GTS sports car outside Sanit Sports Club in Bang Lamung.

The incident was captured on CCTV, with the footage obtained by Thaivisa just after noon on Tuesday.

His sister Kirsty Kenway, 31, said her brother had a “brilliant life” in Thailand and that he had done a lot of charity work while living in the kingdom. She said the family are devastated by what had happened.

Kirsty also revealed that Tony, who lived with wife Pans, 32, in Pattaya became a father for the fourth time in September.

"I don't really know what happened to my brother. He's been in Thailand for years and he's been happily married for five years", Kirsty told MailOnline.

“We speak quite regularly and I visited him over Christmas. We had an amazing time, taking the kids to water parks and he spent a lot of time with his niece. He loved being with his family. He had four children.

“His stepson is 10 and lives in Spain, his son is nine, and he had two children with Pans, a daughter aged three and a baby that was born in September”, she added.

“He absolutely adored his kids and he enjoyed playing with his baby son and he just made sure he looked after his children.

She added: “He had a brilliant life out there and he did a lot for charity, and helped build some schools. He had even met the future King of Thailand. He was very clever and did very well.

“He did a lot of work in IT and was a big fan of sports cars, he was a petrol head.

“Pans [his wife] is brilliant and she was the light of his life. She's devastated by what's happened.

“I was the baby sister [in our family] and he protected me from everybody. I was the youngest, and he was the third youngest. We have an older brother, Paul, and older sister, Sarah.”

According the Mr Kenway’s Facebook page he had previously lived in Marbella, Spain before moving to Pattaya.

While police have yet to officially disclose a motive for the attack, Pattaya police are said to be investigating several lines of inquiry, including alleged links between Mr Kenway and boiler room gangs.

Police are also investigating claims from Mr Kenway’s wife that he was recently involved in a dispute with a shareholder of one of his businesses.

Police are yet to release any further information on the suspect. A report in Thairath said a witness described the attacker as a “chubby man wearing a white T-shirt and black jacket”.

An update from the police is expected later today.

Lots and lots of speculation doing the rounds. I think it is fair to assume that the rosy picture being painted is a veneer for a guy neck deep in 1 or more shady goings on.

The sun (awful rag I know) even talk of the time when he met the big cheese himself.

I think it's a given this 1 is gonna go on the "unsolvable" or "scapegoat needed" pile.

I feel for the guy's wife and kids. Just hope he has set them up in a meaningful way

Pablo Escobar was also very well known for his charity work.

His family were utterly devoted to him.

The Police know.

"Alleged" means they need to know how big the toes are before they start stepping.  (If at all)

CHONBURI — Police said Wednesday they have yet to determine a motive or perpetrator behind the slaying of a British expat near the resort town of Pattaya.

Tony Kenway, 39, was shot dead at point blank range in broad daylight as he sat in his car in the Bang Lamung district on Tuesday. Police described Kenway as a British national who lived in the Jomtien neighborhood and made a living in Thailand as a website designer.

The fact that the cops have not yet blurted out some fabricated, defamatory motive to prove how all-knowing they are tells me they are dealing with powerful people with lots of money and influence and thus they need to keep all their options open including doing absolutely nothing.

If this guy was big in the boiler rooms or other criminal enterprise, there is a good reason that these criminals select Thailand as the place to conduct business. It is because senior figures in the Thai Police rake off a large cut to allow them to carry on. The investigating police do not want any investigation leading to powerful players particularly amongst their own ranks.

What? No statement from the police that it was either a personal or business motive for his murder?

You mean, like this?

"According to Kenway’s Facebook account, he and his wife, Somporn Kenway, recently had a child.

Somporn told reporters Tuesday that he had no history of conflict with anyone, thought she mentioned he had a “business dispute” with a former company partner."

If he was such a great father and family man, why didn't he make an honest living instead of creating a widow and a brood of fatherless children.

Website designer...for a boiler room operation.

Yep, that is what my money is on too.  If he was a web designer, he could not afford a Porsche in Thailand.  If he had a web design company, he potentially could....but what is the name of the company?  Until a company is named and there is some sort of evidence that it was a legitimate operation, I don't believe that he was on the straight and narrow.  And having gone to Pattaya from Marbella simply adds to the suspicion!

the sister says he was happily married 5 years, I thought he got married in November or December of last year, if the family cant get the story straight then they clearly have no idea about his life

The TV keyboard sleuths are hot at it again. Unless someone has more information than I have seen, we know nothing. I wonder how many of you are simply jealous that he was driving a car worth more than your yearly expenditures here. This could have been a simple case of lost face, road rage, mistaken identity, irate husband, or any of a number of reasons other than he was involved in some nefarious illegal situation.

Okay, it's not common knowledge to me; where do you see this or how do you know this?

Then, of course, how are so sure his death is connected to your story?

Most the foreign business owners who do achieve success seem to be exporting from Thailand.  There are a few restaurateurs that do well too.  Never seen an IT guy driving around in what would be a very expensive car in Thailand.  If he was a ligament guy, would like to know his story.  If he was not, could only muster sympathy for his family.

From reading many falang comments here. If those I refer to are on a jury if I'm charged for murder, just because of the car I drive , I would receive the death penalty without listening to the FACTS. So for those iI refer to go get f,,,,ked. and hope you get busted for something you did not do or may not have done! Judge jury an executioner all in one. Some of you. Get a life

What? Are you saying because he was shot twice in the head it could not be mistaken identity?

I knew a guy that ran a ponzi scheme and drove a Bentley and a Lambo. He donated heavily to local politicians and as well as smoke detectors to the fire departments and air conditioners to the less fortunate. His victims were completely robbed of their life savings. His neighbors and family were stunned to hear of his arrest and defended him to the bone. I knew he was a scumbag all along and steered clear of him. Money. The root of blindness.  Mark my words, his last meal was lead for a reason.

If he was a webdesigner working for UK-companies he could buy a new porsche like that one after a year working as a freelancer.
